Yep the dry hits started last night. I cleaned out the tank and rinsed the head and got another full tank of good vape before the head finally burned up. Put a new head in and every other vape is a dry hit. Not sure what is going on. Next head I put in I'm going to try soaking it in juice with the condom before installing it.

I use Boba's Bounty 100% VG and get zero dry hits with my Protank. The burnt taste is usually from the flavor wicks sitting on top of the coil. You can't dry burn the coil and get the flavor wicks clean. Take 'em out and replace them. Or rebuild it using a larger diameter wick without the flavor wicks. Soon as I get my silica in, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to take a 1.5mm and 3mm wick piece and wrap a coil around both and forgo the flavor wicks. Love the Protank. Just got in the SS Tatroe tank and it's looking good on top of my Provari. The Tatroe holds 3.2ml of juice, up from the 2.5 of the Protank.

If you want low ohm coils, re-build the coil with 28 gauge Kanthal. Try 4 to 5 wraps and you should get below 1.5Ω. I did a 5 wrap on my RSST/mesh and got 1.2Ω.

As far as I can tell they only have the 2.2ohm in stock. I thought Kanger Evod/Pro tank heads only came in 1.8 or 2.5ohm set ups. I looked at both of the boxes I received from them and they are marked 2.2ohms. I don't know the true resistance because I don't have an ohm meter so I can't tell you what the true ohms are. When I get my Tesla next week I'll check them and let you know.

I knew you couldn't resist the Tesla, Congrats, what color are you getting, Im telling you your not going to be disappointed ... Congrats

I got the Chrome one but I also got the Vape net Jwrap. I also got 100mls of juice coming from MBV. I've started a Tesla Owners Group in the social group forum. I'm just waiting for it to get approved. A lot more people own the Tesla then I first thought, so I decided to start up a place where we could all share information. I'll let everyone know when it gets approved. :)

Gota add my thoughts and minimal experience on the protank subject.
Day 2 I rewicked with 1.5mm of cotton and laid "2" 1/4mm cotton flavour
wicks on top. It's been 2 weeks now and performance is telling me a rewick is due.

I think the manufacturers are so afraid of flooding or leaking that they over-stuff the coils
with wick to prevent it from happening. Fact is...the coil itself is only around 1.5mm
inner diameter. If they are cramming 3mm of wick into that it's no wonder folks are having
wicking issues in very short order.

I've been using 80/20 PG/VG DIY juice and have had very minimal seepage and no dry hits ever
with the 1.5mm cotton wick in the coil. Even at higher voltages.(4.5-5v)YMMV.

Diffr'nt strokes, I guess, Cheers!:vapor::vapor:

While I am not as experianced as you and thus able to describe so well see this also. I rewicked some of my heads with cotton and i have no problems as long as i keep em relatively snug.. Not too tight not too loose but my cotton wicks still seem thinner then the stock ones... and no flavor wicks either so.. *shrug*

There is good info here about re-wicking...

wow.... where are you ordering your replacment heads ? i find your statement hard to believe i mean i cant chain vape any of mine for more than 4 min without a dry hit but i can chain vape my carto tanks for 4 hours untill i am nicotined out and dizzy . it is possable i just been getting junk heads or some knock offs ???and i am not bashing you or the protank or anything, but i have had noting but trouble from them and i even tried useing evod heads for a wile .

ohh and i forgot to mention... 3-4 out of 5 of the heads i order test way out of spec, come on 2.2 ohm for what is suposed to be a 1.8 ohm head realy ? i have bought 1.8 ohm heads that said 1.8 ohm right on them and metered out to 2.6 lol right out the box ! i have a 90$ meter too its no cheapy and this is acounting for the resistance from the meter wire itself ! i can take a brand new one apart and 1/2 the time the coil will be crooked or sinking in. QC issues. me and my wife are not the only ones ether her friend has all kinds of problems with hers too .
i can find a hundred post from people who buy new heads and rebuild them out the box. it should not be like that.

i am glad they are working for you and please link where you get your replacement heads i will give them a go again. mabey i am getting knock off heads somehow IDK ?

edit... waiting for kanger to come out with a pro carto tank... same shape and style as the pro tank but you insert a carto and screw the bottom on to lock it ... i would have 10 of them !

I have been getting my heads from discountvapers. I also had a problem with the 1.8 heads reading 2.0-2.2 but that wasn't that big of a deal for me. I still have many of my heads unused because I just rebuild them after a little bit because it is so easy and cheap. I have a total if 18 heads but I haven't even unpackaged 10 of them. I'm still using the ones that came with my 4 protanks and rebuilding them every once in a while. I'm really suprised your getting dry hits I vape my tanks almost dry and never get dry hits. I use between 70-80% PG juices so maybe that is why I din't get dry hits. Your juices may just be higher VG in which case you should try removing some flavor wicks to increase wicking.

Have you checked out the Tatro tanks? They are a bit pricey but allow you to use whatever drip tip you want with the protank bottom and heads.. check it out over at cigtechs

Only issue other than price point is I'm still using eGo batts, I think they would most likely fall over often from being unbalanced. I'm also not a fan of not seeing how much eliquid I have left in it. :-/

make sure you aren't over or under-tightening the coil heads, or the base onto your PV. Do your PVs provide a resistance reading? I get varying readings when freshly threaded, but bang on once I start vaping. Chalk it up to circuitry in my PV. Every coil I've installed is within the margin of error, FWIW.

I have had the protank since sunvapers first sold them and have had zero problems with them. Besides using a LR306 atty for tasting my juices the protank is the only thing I use, they are the best hassle-free nicotine delivery system on the planet. No dry hits, no gurgling, no leaking, no problems whatsoever. Kanger hit a homerun with this one.

I totally agree--been vaping for 2 1/2 years and going crazy trying to find the right system. These Kanger Pro Tanks ROCKS! My problem (and why I found this thread) is now finding the replacement heads in stock! Anyone know who has them? Seems everyone wants them and now the replacement heads/coils are getting hard to find! :2cool:

eVod heads work fantastic in the protank, FWIW :D These are my replacements of choice; tighter draw, slightly warmer vape. Give it a shot, you may be pleasantly surprised.
