Quit it, you guys are scaring me. I just received my first PT2 in the mail on Saturday. So far, so good but still on the factory coils. I've got some AWG 30 Kanthal coming along with some Ekowool and SS mesh. The plan is to rebuild when the time comes. I'm not a quitter but do know when it's time to cut my losses and move on. I hope it works out for me as I hate to waste money on stuff that doesn't work. I've got an AGA-T2 coming and look forward to that challenge as well. I started out on cartos and tanks and can always fall back on those should the PT2 and AGA-T2 fail me. Wish me luck :)

Best of luck to you! The Pro tanks are a mixed bag...some people love them, and some people hate them. If they work for you, that's all that matters!

They aren't completely unsalvageable. They just take a little more effort to get them working properly.

Other than that they're great little tanks.

I use a variety of mods. Primarily been using an eVic with either a standard Protank II or a mini Protank II and haven't had any complaints. It seems like my KTS Natural doesn't seem to get enough airflow on the regular Protank II on occasion for some reason tho. But my pipe mod with a mini protank II is nice and smooth and usually roll with that one.

One of my problems with the Protanks is that they're TOO airy but there are ways around that.

As I said, it takes more fussing to get them working properly most of the time, which I don't have the patience for lately. :)

I've had good luck with 1.8ohm PT replacement heads, vaping perfectly at 8-9 watts depending on the juice. I've been removing about 1/2 of a wick and no leaks, floods, etc. Once in awhile it'll get a wild hair and start flooding, so I just pull it apart and give the head a good blow (what?) into a tissue then it's fine all the way to empty. I've tried the 2.2ohm heads but it's hard to get the vape just right - for me anyway. I wouldn't go back to carto tanks for anything at this point. I've been getting a good 4-6 weeks out of a head vaping moderately colored 50/50 juices. That's pretty darn good moneywise. All of these on an iTaste 134.

I hate not loving my Pro Tanks because i do like glass tanks.

The Mini PT-II is kinda nice when i block two air hole on the eGo base but some cartos hold more juice. Flavor is either really good or burnt. I cant get it to fit my vaping style with 50/50 blends. Its close with 70PG/30VG but i still have to "primer" puff and slow down. I can hit nearly all my other clearos as fast as i want with 70PG/30VG and they only taste dry or rarely slightly burnt.

I hardly use them anymore except when im in the mood for menthol. Menthol just tastes cleaner to me in a glass tank. I just take shorter draws and pace them out a bit.

I had put my protanks away in favor of gennys and Ithaka clones but after finding this article i have revived all my protank 2s and evods....

BSD's vertical hollow core Micro Coil build for ARO, Evod, and Protank heads.

Vertical micro coil surrounded with cotton. Functions almost exactly like a mini carto with cotton. With 28g kanthal at 12 wraps comes out to 2 ohms. I can crank it up all the way to 15 watts with no issues. Try that with the stock heads. Vapor and flavor are top notch

Definitely going to try the vertical coil when I have the time and patience to sit down and actually do it. I have about 30 protank heads pulled apart and ready for recoiling, and I keep saying I'm going to do it... then I order another 10 heads and I'm good for a month or two.
