I gotta say: My angst with the USPS over the poor tracking provided by the courier service that both Protovapor, as well as myself, entrusted with an expensive item
Do you think there might be a reason that the mail is substantially cheaper than an actual courier service?

is far more relevant to the XPV thread, than some guy who's obviously perfect, and feels the need to make judgement on others. I could swear I smell an internet troll, lurking just there, in the background here...... ;)
Personally, I wish these threads would have more content about the actual device rather than being cluttered up with delivery angst. Someone who is contemplating buying one and is trying to research the device has to wade through a heck of a lot of noise that's irrelevant to his decision. As do those of us who already have them and are here looking for news of improvements and/or to offer advice to new users. I basically stopped following the Vaporshark thread that I started because for a while, it turned into nothing but page after page of delivery angst.

On a happier note, I LOVE MY NEW XPV!!!!!

Oh and while I'm trolling, it would be nice to see more decent-quality pictures, i.e. ones that don't look like weren't taken with a 10 year old cell phone. Tip: If you want to post reasonable quality pics, don't try to attach them to a post here. Upload them to a photo hosting service. imgur.com is free and you don't even need to sign up for an account there.

Yes I like my XPV. It's been working perfectly. The packaging for shipping was well done with bubble wrap for protection. It's light weight and comfortable to hold on to. More than the Vamo was. The battery is holding for a full day(16hrs+) at 20 watts no problem. The finish is great. If I wanted to be really nit picky I could point to a flaw or two. But they would be due to the connector change and my personal preference. The vape from the DNA30 is very good. Better than the Vamo with stacked 350s. As for the price. I think it's in the ball park of most mods. Not as high as some and higher than others. I got mine in silver with black trim but I liked the other color choices. It gives the buyer a way to make it feel more there own. Now that I've seem it in person it was worth the price to me. So far as I can see Protovapor has a winner mod that will see increased demand. For a mod maker that's not a year old yet Protovapor is doing a fine job in my opinion. This is my opinion after using the XPV for five days.:D

Didn't know about imgur.com. I'll keep it in mind.

I get a little OCD sometimes. The Vamo and KFL had a gap between them. I fixed that with a SS washer. I went looking in my catch cans. You know those cans you throw extra stuff into. Screws, washers, little brackets and such. I found a thin black rubber washer. It came from a faucet filter. From one of the connectors they throw in. Anyway it's the same size as the connector and fits prefect between the connector and the screws. And is just thick enough for the KFL to set on. It looks like it was made for it. So if you have the new connector and the gap bugs you a little. Next time your at the hardware store check out the faucet washers. Just make sure it's thin. I took the one off my faucet and it fits but is to thick. Just thought I'd pass this on.

Didn't have a pic to put with this post till now. Really I didn't think about it till today. This is how the washer looks. The washes is about 1mm smaller than the KFL so there is still a small gap. But with the way it fits I can live with it.

So I've had my XPV 30D for a month now and I couldn't be happier with it. I haven't touched any other mod since and it's held up to a month of abuse I've given it. Lasts me a whole day and then some vaping at 15 watts. Trust me the wait is worth it, between the way it fits in your hand, the weight, and how well built it is, you cannot go wrong.

As Promised here she is (Sorry for low quality, didn't have access to a better camera).
I absolutely adore it!

There is just something about the switch and DNA housings as well as the clip that just looks cheap to me. They should've went with like a brushed SS to make it look better. I think that is the biggest reason why I haven't ordered one to date. I'm not trying to bash the device at all, and mean no disrespect to people that own them, just stating my opinion. I know from what I have read, it is a very good device but I can't get past the whole all plastic look...

I'm having a problem with my Protovapor. I plugged in the charger (was about half empty) and the battery indicator suddenly went empty even though its got charge.

Tried pulling cable out and putting back down and letting it shut off, any ideas?

The charge indicator line dropped all the way down, did the red light stay on while it was charging?? If it did leave it in for about 10-15 minutes and see if the indicator is fluctuating up and down until it stays stable and charges.

It's not "all plastic". The main housing is extruded aluminum, with a powder-coated (I think) finish. The end plates are steel. The switch, the DNA mounting bits, and the (optional!) clip are indeed plastic (most likely 3D printed). Please remember, this is a true "Mod", not a mass-produced item; the number made so far is only in the mid 3-digits. Having highly detailed custom bits made out of stainless steel in low volume is big-time expensive. It would also add a lot of weight. If you want a piece of art done in solid metal, the XPV is probably not for you, because that's not the XPV. The XPV provides unbeatable utility at a very reasonable price, and without excessive weight. If you can find someone who has one, pick it up, hold it in your hand, vape it, stick it in your pocket using the clip and you'll know whether it's for you or not. I've got several other DNA mods including a Hana and a Vaporshark. The XPV is the only one that actually gets used and carried. In fact, after having it for a while, I decided I needed a second one as a backup because I couldn't stand the idea of being without one, and the fact that some of the bits are plastic doesn't bother me at all.

I am fully aware that the device isn't all plastic. I have been following this thread since the beginning and am somewhat impressed with what I have read and seen of it. I think maybe I should've said that in my original post. What I meant was when I see pics of it I can't help but see all the plastic parts. They just stick out like a sore thumb to me. Maybe it's just the black and grey color combo that it seems so polarized on. Like I said, I didn't mean to ruffle anyones feathers or hurt anyones feelings here, was just giving an observation that I've pondered since it was released. I hope to see one out here in the wild someday. I have never owned a regulated device but have always wanted one in my collection. I have tossed around the idea the XPV would be the one for me. One never knows was though...

I ordered one because I wasn't going to pay $250 for a Hana, which in my opinion is less attractive than the XPV. And all the others seem to be more expensive than that. And the clones so far are crap.

The body (black) is anodized aluminium and the trim (grey) is Alumide (Nylon/Aluminium Compound) as the Trim is 3D printed. The trim doesn't look or feel 'plastic-y' in person. The pictures on the site make it seem larger than it is, as it is actually smaller in person the alumide looks different (hard to explain haha). If I was to compare it to something it is somewhat reminiscent of the rough cut side of a cement block. The only plastic part is the button.

Each to their own I guess :) . You really should get a regulated device! Mechs are great for RDA's/looking fancy/blowing clouds, but the voltage drop is very noticeable on a higher ohm coil. When i'm out and about I use a tanka nd I want the hits to be constant like if I was smoking a cigarette.
