I was using one of my own micro usb cables connected to my pc to charge it, I switched to the cable they provided (which is thicker) and It has worked a dream since. Chalking it down to a dodgy cable
I love the clicky button, it comes close to a Cherry-MX Blue Mechanical Keyboard Switch.
If I had the know how I would remove the switch and put one of those bad boys on the front

Oh, your gonna love the button Ive been using my XPV for almost 3 months now, everyday device and showing it to others along the way I have recieved so many positive remarks on the button and device itself. I feel very lucky to have scooped one up on the classifieds!

Hi all, I'm a newbie member, but been vaping for almost a year off and on. Been a long time reader of ECF and specifically this thread - and this is my FIRST post outside of the "newbie pen"! Got a Protovapor DNA 30 on order (order# 815, placed June 5th I think, but may be delayed, as I opted to wait for longer cases to come in).
Can anybody give an update on the last shipped/received order number? Last I saw on this thread was #666, I think.
Can't wait to get it! Currently have a DNA 30 from Buffalo Modz, very rugged & not a bad mod at all, but love the lighter weight & belt clip features that Protovapor provides. Also have a DNA 30 pipe from Freight Train on order. I bought one of FT's DNA 12 pipes when I started vaping last year, VERY nice for around the house, but like the easier portability & pre-installed batteries of smaller mods when I'm on the go.

I'm 8 days behind you June 13th, 853 and I opted to wait for longer cases. I'm hoping for around the end of July, but who knows.
#889, ordered 28 June. Didn't see any mention of long vs. short case, what's the story on that?
When they went with the new 510 connector it was a little longer. That required a bigger spacer on the top (temp fix) until they get new cases in to make up for that difference. By the time yours is assembled they should have the new case standard in production.
If you look at the pictures showing the new 510 you can see the wider spacer at the top. The new case will make it look like the originals again with equal spacers on the top and bottom.

I've had mine for a week now and I'd like to share some thoughts.
This think is freakin awesome!
I like an airy draw and tend to do lung hits, so my preferred tank is the Fogger v4. With the XPV I am getting better flavor and consistent hits than on my other regulated mods. The battery life is all day with no problems when I am using my tanks at 12 - 18 watts. My other devices (an iTaste MVP & VTR) have already been sold to newly vaping friends. Everywhere I go, vapers want to give it a try with whatever tank/RDA they are using. It is lightweight and fits easily into my pockets. The beltclip works well but could be a little tighter to the case. I've had it slide out of my pocket a couple of time while sitting. The new 510 connector has worked with every device that I own and everything that my friends have tried on it.
At first I wasn't happy with the performance of the XPV with my RDAs. However, I received my Magma Paradigm yesterday and I can no longer gripe about the performance of the XPV with RDAs. Outstanding. I guess sometimes you do get what you pay for. The cheap Helios RDA clones that I have just where not performing with the XPV. Live and learn. If I have one gripe about the XPV it is battery life when I am using a RDA. When I use them I am running at 25-30 watts and can burn up the battery pretty fast. Admittedly, I was chain vaping at poker night and had to plug it in after a couple of hours (gotta love pass through charging). I don't have a solution for that one. A larger battery or multiples would ruin the compactness which is what most of us love about this device.
I still have a mech mod for those occasional time when I feel the need for super sub ohm cloud chasing. Evolv needs to make a 100 watt Dna chip. Then I would have everything.
Overall, I think the XPV is well worth the money. Quality of craftsmanship is superb and I prefer the design to the Hana (my brother has one) or the other box mods I have owned. All told for an all day device that performs and is easy to carry around, the XPV is hard to beat.

Looks like the base will be a permanent mount to the bottom of the unit. You remove the bottom plastic piece, insert base, then reinstall. Think I will hold off until after I get my unit, and see if I can go without for now....

Wish they would just sit on the desk and you could set the XPV in it.
May have to do a little woodworking and see what I can come up with since I've got nearly a month before mine arrives.
I want to wait to see how stable the mod is without adding the foot. It seems to me that the feet (even the smaller ones) will make it harder to put in pocket, and I'm usually pretty careful when setting down to prevent tipping.
My Buffalo Mod DNA-30 is very stable with my Kayfun Lite & pipe drip stem on it - it kinda looks like a skyscraper! It isn't that much wider than the Protovapor (about 30mm by 36mm rectangle), but is also a bit shorter (about 90mm). Also, I think that the BM is quite a bit heavier than the Protovapor is, so you have more inherent stability near the base....

So far mine seems stable standing up without a foot. Though if the table got bumped, it may tip over. I mainly use carto tanks on it though so usually just set it on its side.
It wouldn't be at all difficult for someone skilled in 3D CAD (which I am not!) to draw up something like that and make it available for purchase from Shapeways.
I'm entirely satisfied with the rubber pad I put on the bottom of mine:
(That larger-than life close-up picture makes it look far uglier than it does in real-life, and normally you don't see that end of it at all).
This serves two purposes: 1) It means you don't have to try to get all four screws in a perfect plane in order for it to be stable. 2) It prevents the screw heads from scratching up softer surfaces (for example wooden table tops or night stands).
