Provari and Battery Life

I have the AW IMR 18650 batteries and only get about 2 hours out of any of the 3 I rotate. Is this normal with a 3ohm carto?

Yea, it's normal...If you vape 8mL per hour... LOL Sorry, couldn't help myself.

How old are the batteries? Any estimate of the number of charge cycles?

It is not normal. I get a least 9 hours out of an 18650 Imr with a 3ohm cartomizer. And that is heavy vaping, not light.

I'm not sure how old the batteries are but I got them with the unit a month or so ago and it always discharged this fast. I have 3000mah batteries coming and hope they work better.

I'd check the charger. Sounds like the batts are not fully charged. JMHO

OP Do you have a Multimeter? If so, check the batteries when they come off the charger fully charged. They should be at about 4.2v

I checked the 2 I just charged and they are right at 4.2 or slightly above.

i get a day from the time i wake up till the time i go to bed on a fully charged imr 18650

The batteries are probably just reaching the end of their life cycle then. I had a set of 14500's a couple months ago that were the same way. They charged all the way up to 4.2v, and dead in 30 minutes LOL.

There's a thread somewhere in here about it, but don't be surprised if they're no better (or don't work at all, depending on your settings).

The ProVari has a protection circuit to protect your atty/carto, the battery and the ProVari. If it senses a voltage dip because power is being drawn out faster than the battery can supply it, it'll shut off. Most batteries can't supply power fast enough to meet the requirements if you're using a combination of low resistance and high voltage. Granted, 3 ohms isn't low, but if you're setting the power to 5.5 volts, you're still drawing nearly 2 amps out of the battery - that's most than most can cough up. They selected the AW IMR because it can keep up.

Thank you for the explanation Scott. I appreciate that. I'm just a guy that has a computer, looks for deals on eBay for items I want, and am new to vaping. I'll try the 3.0 and hope they work and then I guess the next move would be to buy HR cartos or a flashlight (from eBay)

with my IMR batts i have cranped my provari to 6v with no issues with the built in cutoff. i think it's the reason provape recommends them

I am really pleased with my 18650 AW IMR batteries from Provape.

Have no idea if this is typical or not. I vaped 12 hours on my ProVari w/2500 mAh ProVari Power batt. 2.7 ohm DEUX @ 4.5v. I consider myself a somewhat heavy vaper. JMHO
