So if my wife gets me a Provari for Xmas with the 18650 extender, can I use the same Effest button top 18650 IMR 3.7 LI-MN batteries as I use in my VTR?
Provape strongly recommends using only button-top IMR AW batteries (actually 5 different times on the website). The Provari was actually designed around the specifications of this battery during development.
Having said that, any IMR/hybrid button-top battery of appropriate size can be used in a Provari. Attempting to use a flat-top battery with magnets in order for it to work in a Provari will void the warranty with Provape.
It has to be a button top, flat tops will not work at all. I use EFest in mine with no problem, but I wouldn't go any cheaper than that. Also using Efest does not void your warranty as some here might say otherwise. Strongly recommending is not the same as voiding your warranty.

Yes. I have some of those same batteries and they worked. Bads advice on the AW's are something to keep in mind when re ordering. I beleive the AW's to be a better buy even at a doilar or two more per battery. They seem to last longer. I have been trying every brand out there and keep them all in rotation. All the batteries with the word "fire" in the name are all dead and thrown away now,,,just a warning.
