Provari Mini with Aspire Nautilus... PLEASE HELP!

Hi.

Could you please share your set-up with this combo (ProvariMini+AspireNautilus)??

I know that I'm supposed to try and play with it to find my own sweet spot but I need to start with something. So far it's all gurgle and burned coils. It's highly disapointing as I invested about $400 CAN on this and I end up using my previous set-up, i.e. V3 eGo Spinner at 4.8V with 24mg juice...

I have 2x5packs of 1.8ohms replacement coils. What voltage and air-hole should I try if I want a dense/strong hit without burning the coils like crazy and without gurgling/flooding issues?? And how long should I expect the coils to last? With the eGo I change the coil and burn 15-20mil of liquid a week. With the Provari-Nautilus so far it's a coil and 5-10mil a day!!

I really need your expertise. Please help.

HI Perrones,
You describe a setup I use almost every day. Perhaps a couple of suggestions:
1. On the Porvari, start with low power and work your way up. I find that different hardware and juices change my voltage from 3.9 to 4.7 on my Provari.
2. Gurgling has many sources but you might want to make sure everything is snug when you change coils on the tank and be very careful not to get any juice in the chimmney when filling. A little excess juice can usually be fixed by blowing through the tank air holes, (keep the drip tip fitting pointed away from you).
3. Setting the proper air flow for the juice and how you vape is also a variable. I find I use the two largest holes on the Nautilus but it does change between how hard I'm vaping and how fast. Remember, each inhale is creating a vacuum that is drawing juice into the wicks. Too fast, too frequent, too hot can mean not enough time for the wicks to soak.
4. Finally there is the luck of the draw with the Natullus coils. I've been prettry lucky that most of the ones I've bought work fine. But, I've heard from other and had some experince with the fact that sometimes the factory quality is not what it should be.
5. As for the Provari. I'm up to three now and while I have other regulated mods the Provari's and the standard I use for performance. they just work everytime the way I expect.

The big difference between your Provari and your Spinner is the voltage drop. The Provari will provide the exact voltage you set it at, where with the Spinner battery, if it can't provide the amperage you're asking of it will drop in voltage to compensate. The Spinner may be set for 4.8 volts but only actually providing 3.8 volts. (the actual numbers may vary greatly, picked for a possible example)

When I vape my wife's Natty tanks on my ProVari I do this (1.8ohm coil):
-set the airhole at the largest one
-set the PV at 4.2 volts
-enjoy the fine taste!

Hey fellow Montrealer!

I've been having gurgling issues as well on my Nautilus / Provari setup. When that starts, I have to take it apart, blow the juice out of the atomizer and clean the chimney and almost every time I have to do it twice. That almost always happens the second my juice level is between the 1mL and 2mL line. I have to admit I have been using the Nautilus mostly for chain vaping.

If I understand correctly:
-Use a bigger air hole
-Don't draw too much, especially on the smaller holes
-Give it a rest before it gets warm
-Try another atomizer if all else fails.

After reading ftbb's post, I'm getting the feeling I might have the holes problem on my atty (still running on the first one).

So far I haven't killed a single atomizer and I've been through more than 30mL on one of my regular Aspire DBC tanks. If you get a burned taste, try cleaning your atomizer; it worked for me twice and those atty's are still running great.

For the gurgling on the nautilus I found this fix that is fast and works every time.
Take the tank off and put a tissue under the open air hole with the air hole facing the ground. Blow lightly into the mouth piece holding it straight out from you mouth. The juice comes out the air hole. Move to an air hole on the other side and blow lightly, etc.
Done and vapes perfect.

I have found the juice makes a difference on this set up. Allusions 50/50 juice I set my Provari mini to 4.3 volts and life is grand. But Gorilla Juice and Boba's Bounty I can't go past 3.8 or I get a burnt taste and get an E2 error (check Ao=ohms).
I'm hoping its because I'm using the coils that came in the box with the tank as it should go higher.

...and give it a brutally hard shake upside down! I had poor luck with the coils and using dark/sweet juices, but cleaned them out. Rolling my own (coils, that is), and enjoying it much more! Some say there is a QC issue with the coils right now, and some are shipped shorted. I've never received a bad coil from Aspire.

Hey Perrones, I have had a provari for years, and with both the BDC and Nautilus setups, I have had some wicking issues/dry taste/burned taste until finally finding the perfect voltage to vape at for each one (around 4.2-4.5), and making sure the coils are not flooded before using them (just do exactly as DHolly said and blow out the coil). But have never burned through a coil a day. Coil will last me however long, but it starts getting significantly weaker for me after about 6 weeks maybe a little less. But like others said, Aspire coils in general are VERY hit or miss. Some vape amazingly, some so so, and some..well...not at all lol. Once I switched over to a kayfun lite tank w/AFC, this changed everything for me. No more buying coils and having to commit to a very small interval of voltage. With the Kayfun you can dial in wherever you want, never have any wicking or coil issues, and if you have a coil issue, you just rebuild one. It sounds tough if you haven't done it before, but really the extent of it is wrapping a few wraps of wire around a drill bit, pulling it on, and putting some cotton or silica through it (it comes with two done for you already which each will last you months and months). You will never have to worry about spending money on replacements again. I would invest the 30 bucks on a Kayfun clone on Ebay. PM me if you want the link to the one I have that has been stellar since day one. It will change everything for you. Such a pleasure compared to being very restricted with not much flavor on these Aspire setups.

Also, when using an atomizer, whatever size, just add 2 to it to get the appropriate voltage. 1.8 = 3.8 volts and 1.6 would be 3.6 volts. After using a tank of juice, I rinse the coil with hot water, soak in vodka, dry and re-use.

The Provari will seem to give more power at the same setting that you set for an Ego. You need to start lower to avoid burning. It's not that the Provari is giving the wrong amount of power, it's actually giving the accurate power. Ego's suffer some voltage drop. The battery inside may be giving the voltage you set it to, but by the time it gets to your coil, it's actually less.

For the Nautilus, I don't have any experience with it. I hear that it's a great tank when it's working right. There were some issues with the replacement coils though. I think I heard that Aspire was supplying vendors with new versions that fixed some wicking issues on them. Maybe you got the older versions, and the problems are just less apparent on the ego with lower voltage?

I've never gotten a gurgling sound, but if I don't prime it, I get a burnt taste. I guess it's all experimentation. I think the most important thing is to keep the hole covered by screwing in the tank in order to create a vacuum. Anyway, each person has to find the way that works for them, I guess.

The Nautilus is one moody tank!
I usually have the problem with burnt coils, but also gurgling and I've learned the following procedure:
Burnt taste, I choose the smallest air hole and take a couple of primer puffs, then it start gurgling change to the largest air hole for a while.
Then it gets burnt again. And I start all over again.
Never let it have less than 2ml liquid in it.
I no longer prefer the Nautilus due to these issues. I'm waiting for a Kanger Aerotank mega, and hopefully that means I can retire my Nautilus for good.
That said, it gives decent taste, not as good as a Kayfun or a dripper(best taste there is), but it's good for a tank.

The Provari is a great mod you can use to everything except sub-ohming, Which I don't. So well spent money there.

I had the gurgling problem and it seems fixed now:

I dismantled the whole thing and rinsed it while turning the hole selection ring to make sure all the juice was out. Then I blew through every hole to get as much water as possible out and left it to dry overnight. Also, I also give it a chance to cool down between draws.

I always had good luck with the Nautilus, start by making a couple of long hits without firing the Provari, and let it sit for a couple of min. to let the wick soak. RBA is the best choice.
