Provari2 with Kayfun lite v2 needs upgrade

So my girl got the preggars about 2 years ago and I had to get off the pack a day palmal habit. Ended up with a Provari v2 with Kayfun lite v2 (rta>?)

There wasnt a whole lot of choice back in those days, now the market is flooded with options and its so daunting to research all these products, I dont really have the time for all of that.

I really dont like the kayfun, it tends to leak when going inside/outside due to temps or pressure. The base of the tank is also a royal pita to take off, usually takes several trys of max force which hurts my fingers. Finally the vapor production seems a little off, I can turn up the voltage on my provari to make some decent clouds but its going to burn the wick in a couple of hours, I try to get a day or 2 out of them usually, which means long slow pulls to get a decent hit - not quite satisfying.

Not sure if I need a new mod or not, the batteries need to be replaced soon but if yall think the provaris day has passed, so be it.

Money isnt a huge factor, would love a rebuildable tank with good vapor production that NEVER leaks and doesnt cause any unnecessary headaches such as the base getting jammed every single time.

Hi and welcome to the board. You don't say at what Ohms you are coiling your Kayfun, or whether you are a mouth to lung hitter, or direct to lung. FWIW, if you are mouth to lung, Kayfun now has the V4, which is, I think, a better tank. Mine has the subohm kit, and it breathes much better then my Kayfun Lite. It is top fill, which I judge to be a great improvement, and can be coiled much lower than a KFL for more vapor. Provari also is now making their P3 model, which includes a variable wattage mode along with the variable voltage you are used to; and the power output has been increased to 20 watts. If you are happy with the ProVari-- it is an excellent brand, if a bit low powered for my personal taste-- and the form factor of a tube mod, it is worth a serious look.

I would suggest taking a look at the Lemo 2 tank as well. It comes with a PEEK insulator and can be coiled down to .5 ohms, or even a bit lower, without heating problems. I personally use mine in subohm mode all the time and with the air flow opened all the way up it breathes better than any other tank I own. I also have a friend here on the board who coils hers above one ohm and closes the airflow down for mouth to lung hits. It is a seriously flexible piece of gear, and it is the only top-fill tank I have ever seen that doesn't want to leak a drop or two after filling. It can be had in the authentic version for less than 40 bucks, and I-- I live in Houston-- don't have any leaking issues with it going from the air conditioning into the 100+ degree heat we've been enjoying before it rained this week. The Lemo 2 is my go-to tank for single coils (I use the Fogger V6 for dualies). It's really good gear and if you go that route, once you get it dialed in where you want it-- I repeat it's extremely flexible-- I think you will be very happy.

If you are not wedded to the tube style form factor and might like to try a fixed battery mod, Innokin makes the MVP 3.0 at 30 watts, the Cool Fire 4 at 40 watts and the MVP 3.0 Pro at 60 watts of power. They are all very nice pieces of gear; I just don't know what kind of power level you require. They also make the SVD 2.0, which is a 20 watt tube style mod, another nice piece of gear, but frankly, the ProVari is going to be better, if a bit more expensive. For replaceable battery mods-- my favorite-- recommendations would be the Sigelei Mini at 30 watts, or the Sigelei 75 TC at 75 watts with temp control, in case you would ever want to explore that (I have it and like it, FWIW.) You say money is not a big issue: I have, and use everyday as my car mod, an SX Mini M-class mod, a 60 watt Temp Control machine that is *very* nice. Pricey though, they're 200 bucks. Give me a shout by liking this post, or quoting it, with some more about how you vape and I'll try to help thin the choices for you.

Coils are usually 1.5 ohms. >4v or it burns the wick and the tank is still full.

I dont get the high powered mods, Wouldnt that just burn the wick even faster?

Oh and I have some experience with lung hits lil 420 never hurt anyone but with the kayfun is more of a mouth hit.

Yes its authentic, just like the one on the left. Bottom is laser cut designed in russia made in germany.

I think its due to Houstons extreme temperature changes, going from a 70 deg office to over 100 in the car before the AC has a chance to cool it down is where I see the most problems.

@WillyZee - I LOVE the bell cap on your one KF. Is that a glass cap or PMMA? Also, are those compatible with all the KFs?

Those nano, super light, bell caps come from FT and are all I use now on my Kayfuns ... I just love them.

You can literally see the last drops of juice when almost empty, and they give me the perfect amount of juice between refill and rewick.

One of my main setups is a Kayfun Lite Plus on a Provari. Only time the KFL+ has leaked is when the o-ring that the chimney goes in became worn; replaced it and the leaking stopped. I don't have trouble with removing the Kayfun from the Provari, either. You might want to try using Rayon (cellucotton or synthetic cotton) from Sally's Beauty Supply; it lasts a lot longer than cotton and doesn't scorch like cotton.

It seems your displeasure is more with the Kayfun than the Provari. I'd invest in another tank rather than another mod if I were you. The Kayfun has always had a tight draw and never known to make a significant amount of vapor. If the newer Kayfun 4 has a more open draw and makes more vapor, it might be the next step for you.

Today's clearomizers have come a long way since you started vaping. Perhaps an affordable Aspire Nautilus is in your future.

The Kayfun V4 then, or the Lemo with the air flow restricted. You can order a subohm kit for the KF4, which includes a PEEK insulator and a wider bore air flow tube/bolt up through the center, but for mouth hits you might not need it. Coiling at 1.5, the insulator won't be necessary. Still, lowering that build, down to the 1.0-1.2 range will make more vapor for you. In general, the lower you build, the more watts the build will tolerate. I personally don't need high power either. I have a Fogger coiled at .65 on my SX right now and I use it at 17 watts. Reference to the Ohm's Law Calculator informs me your 1.5 Ohm coils at 4 volts make 10 watts. Thus, 20-30 watts should be just fine for you, and leave a reserve in case you ever want to buy a dripper and blow clouds. That ProVari P3 would be a nice choice, and I hear good things about both the MVPs and the Sigeleis. Just as an experiment, though, why don't you try throwing a 1.0 or 1.2 ohm build in your KFL and see if that fixes things a bit? Perhaps you might not need anything at all, unless you just want it. What are you using for a wick? I use rayon, and it's very hard to burn it without making a real effort. I used to be an organic cotton guy to the bone. But that was before I tried rayon. There's a good bit of palaver about which is better-- and I don't want to start a flame war here-- but my personal experience is it wicks better and tastes better and tolerates heat better than cotton. I really do like that Lemo, though...

Hello and welcome to ECF Jason Shaw. Just like a few other folks here, a Provari 2.5 and Ephro Kayfun lite+ is all that I use or need. I'm up to 4 Provari's and 6 Kayfun's. A question I haven't notice anyone ask is, what wicking material are you using? Have you ever tried rayon? I've been using rayon for the last year, ever since I got my first Kayfun and once you get the density in the coil right you can crank the voltage up some without burning the wick, and that's without mentioning how much more flavor you'll notice from your juice.

I note your location is Toronto... The complaint my fellow Texan makes is fairly common down here in the southlands. Not uncommon for a 30-40 degree (F) temp swing in the summer months just going in and out of doors. That does put some pressure on a tank.

I am kind of surprised that the provari is still a good mod, I have never seen anyone else carry one and very rarely do I see a tube style. Its not a cheap device so I am glad it is still a contender.

To be clear, it doesnt get jammed on the mod, the baseplate gets jammed to the tank, and you literally HAVE to unscrew it there to rebuild.

I found the Lemo 2 RTA online for 27 bucks, seems like a deal if it turns out to be as good as supertrkr states.

Good tip about the Rayon, might give that a shot if the new tank seems to struggle with that issue as well.

I replaced all of the o-rings and gave it a good cleaning trying to stop the leaks last time I decided to troubleshoot the problem. I no longer trust the tank, its going to dump brown oil on my work clothes on occasion.
