Has any found a supplier or company that has tobacco e-juice like or very similar to MFS Turbosmog, Tall Paul, or Red Luck?

Nice tanks too. This is one reason why I'm not making them. They have to be so exact and none of my work is exact.
I think the o-rings are a bit smaller, so I'd go with 1.5mm and stretch them a bit.

That sounds interesting! Would like to see an example when you are done. Maybe you should make art caps for carto tanks, and I can make the glass for it:p.

I've been doing a bunch of research on drip tip o-rings, and here's the dimensions I found.
"standard" O-ring size for 510 drip tips: 1.5mm CS x 6mm ID x 9mm OD

and

MadVapes claims theirs are:
9.44 mm outside diameter
6 mm inner diameter
(which means their wall thickness should be 1.72mm (who sells that? and is that 1.5 or 2mm in standard O-ring sizes?)

The actual measurement for the inside of a carto is a bit LESS than 9mm (because the carto IS 9mm, but the thickness of the metal is less than 1mm)...possibly 8mm, but you have to have room for 'squish'.

That's clear as mud, which means that you have to test for sizes anyway:(. I just now pulled one of the O-rings off of a regular drip tip and popped it onto one of my newly ground glass ones... and while it fits fine, because I have no groove, it won't work. But the one I used was also 1.5mm thick too, so I don't know if 1mm would work.. or I MUST put a groove in there.

Such a pain getting everything sourced, isn't it? I want to make tanks too, and THAT's a whole lot of measuring, since tanks come in so many different sizes... and what tanks do I want to make replacements for?

I already made some tanks, here:

I got the outer diameter perfect... but the grommets I bought from High Valley Vapes do NOT fit the cartos I got from them, they leak at the carto joint, which isn't anything I can fix. The glass to silicone seam is perfect, but they are unusable because the grommets they sell don't fit their carto tanks they sell. They make some lovely tanks, but I don't think they use the same caps they sell, as there's no room in the inner ring of the grommets to put an o-ring to hug cartos on the ones I bought from them.

However, I realized that even if it did fit, I'm not putting cheap caps on that much glass work anyway. So I'm just going to make decorative replacement tanks for my glass tanks.

I've just been obsessing over juice blending and equipment lately. Need to work the vape gear hoarding out of my system before I get serious:).

Those are beautiful drip tips and the tanks are awesome!

I know what you mean about grommets. I bought a hand blown tanks with grommets and I leaked terribly. I sent it back and they replaced it with a better one. Now it works fine, but a grommet is more likely to pop off when installing a carto than good tight end caps.

Maybe you could buy metal end caps from IBTanked or similar vendor?

Thanks:). I have just been spending way too much time/money on the gear/juice right now to focus on making components. I dived right in trying some things in glass from enthusiasm, but I'm still at the early material sourcing stage:).

Susan, I think that unless you mold the base part, there's no easy solution to the O-rings without physically trying different sizes to see what will work with what you are making. I pried an o-ring off of one of my plastic drip tips last nite, and they are way too big to fit on one of the glass tips... because the glass tips are already snug. I think I have to make a groove if I want to use an O-ring. It's just one test after another, even for making a few things for yourself:).

I ordered my original batch of o rings in the size Mad Vapes recommended but they weren't thick enough and wouldn't fit snugly into a tank so I ordered the next batch with the same inner diameter but thicker. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll work out. I'm leaving the bases of the tips alone so they will remain standard size.

My son used to work at a machine shop so I have someone who will probably be able to make me some grommets for the ends of tanks to my own specifications and I'm planning on decorating those, too, as well as tanks. My collection will be UNIQUE and to my taste...lol

I'm really anxious to see if my abilities meet my expectations. :D

You've given this way more thought and experimentation than I have. I'm sure you've already seen these: Accugrind and these: http://www.eu-glass.com/glassco_labs_bushing_adaptors. I can see to get the base exact every time, it has to be pre-made. I think I'll stick to making beads. :)

That's basically what I made for my drip tips last nite, just not as tapered. I have a full grinder setup, so it's easy for me to do. The precision tho is hard by hand since I'm not a lathe, despite being a glassblower, so I'm ALMOST a lathe:).

Now imagine that exact point you showed me... where would you put the O-ring? The entire length of the tip can only be 4-5mm, or it's going to be shoving your carto material back down the tube...(tried longer too)

I was thinking one of these things need to be made to custom specifications. But that could get costly and lots of trial and error before getting it right. Then I'm guessing unless you buy a huge quantity of them, they would be cost prohibited.

I only have a flat lap and a stained glass grinder. Neither will work to grind the grooves.

I must say I am very impressed with the customisations of everything vape related that people are coming up with, and i have to admit that the girls seem better at it than the guys from what i have seen.

See, here's the interesting differences I've noticed here (and in life)...

Guys tend to prefer tinkering with their toys... rebuildables, redoing the electronics, wrapping, modding, essentially taking things apart and putting them back together again differently... playing with the guts. They want to make something that looks good, and make it work better, with modifying function in mind.

I think most girls want to redecorate everything... accessories, dangles, wild colors, creative mix and matching, personalizing. Given the choice, women tend to buy something that looks worse, but works better, with modifying appearance in mind.

While both are interested in asthetics, it's usually a completely different approach:).

This is one of the reasons I joke i'm more guy than girl, and probably why I have my chosen (male dominated) career. I like to take things apart and tinker. I do some creative things, but I lack that artistic flair. I sew, but it's all pretty utilitarian. I have no knickknacks and wall decor in my house. I think I lack that particular girl gene. LOL.

You're preaching to the choir sister!!! I too was in a nearly all male dominated sales job for 9 yrs. Working with women can be a catty, nightmare!

My first car was a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang that with the help of various cousins, was almost completely rebuilt from bottom up....I miss that car....I can still hear the cherry bomb:)
