I wish wildlife would stay WILD. LOL, I encountered my first squirrels in Tucson at Reed Park. Also a set of ducks and geese and swans, living in the "reclaimed" water artificial lake. It is thoroughly disgusting in every way, and I think all the water fowl have been doing a bit of inbreeding. There are also tortoises in that "water." LOL.
I really thought Tucson had no squirrels, but in the areas that have been artificially "modified" so to speak, there they were, all over the place. It took all my fortitude not to persuade my kiddo to let the dog off the leash so they could at least be treed.
I can cope with critters in their natural environment, even snakes when hiking. It's when they approach MY space that I start to freak. I just... I don't like it when a scorpion (now dead) likes to live under my little table stand in our front porch. It's disturbing. LOL.
I guess to be fair, we kind of encroached on their space. And, I'm sure, without snakes, and WHATEVER else, my bunny population would be totally out of control.
Oh, I try to maintain the natural balance of things, and I'm super happy to own an acre of desert land. It just.... It's preferable to an apartment in town surrounded by the homeless, really.
But... Tucson is JUST too full of venomous things. And man, I lived in Sydney for a long time and NEVER got bit. Tucson's wildlife is entirely different, not a season goes by without someone getting bitten by SOMETHING (even if it's the dogs). They're just way too high and mighty for my taste.
