I tried both ways, and like the before method.
It swells the wood a little for a fatter coil.
I have found that the wood swells after picking teeth and it changes the circumference so I now wrap dry.
Yeah that kit is also on the list, I kept up on the threads about them, in the HHV forum place.
Yeah no regrets here, I just got back from the store, I was running out of Ramen noodles. I think at the end of next month, I might be able to buy a few things.

I'm 100% cotton too, and have actually found significantly better life using 3.0mm coils (up from the previous 2.5). I have no idea why, nor do I particularly care. I'm just happy that I don't have to re-wick them as often as I was before.

I made up a coil for the Kayfun 3.1 as well.. decided I may as well and see if it works.
It's working fine but I'm finding a better flavor out of the 3.1 compared to the v.4.. is this user error in building the 4? Or does everyone find the same flavor difference?

I always used Mason jars but your method is vastly superior. I am going, in thirty seconds, to explain this concept to my lovely (but somewhat skeptical) wife.
I get better flavor from my KFL+. Out of all of them I have tried. V3, V4, V5, Probably just me.

It's not just you. While everything we do is bound to vary, person to person, some have similar tastes.
I liked the 3's, but not quite as much as the "+". I found the decks a bit more work, and top-fill holds no value to me.
I hated the 4. Despised it, actually.
V3 top fill was exceptional while on vacation. I was able to refill while riding on the scooter, no need to pull over and get a screwdriver out. I only have 2 V3's but might get a couple more once I start working again

The Kayfun V4 ... what's there not to like?
Well for me, less parts is better. I'll either lose something or never get it back together correctly. That schematic is intimidating.
