I'm dumb.

A while ago I got an ERA, ordered it with the "torch" option. I liked the blue coloring so much, I thought maybe I'd try it on the 'ol reomizer. I took off the bottom and top caps, and held the tube up with a screwdriver.

It took about 4 seconds of torching before it started to change shape. I stopped it quick enough that it didn't ruin it, but it doesn't thread onto the bottom portion as easily. A bit longer and it would have been a goner.

The result? I'll have to take a picture in a while. It's not the pretty blue of the ERA, but it does look cool.

You may be the first to take the plunge and report it. Sorry it didn't work but glad we now have more info. Thanks. For now the best bet, and cheapest route is torching an A7 especially if one can get in on an A7 co-op. The A7s I got from co-op were about $9US including shipping. Cost more from a vender but I haven't paid more than $20. I do like the REOmizer. For ReomizerI haven't ruled out doing a light coat of spray on high heat paint for cap. Some of the textured paints would be snazy if they come in heat resistant. I'm also considering taking just the outside of cap down to bare brass. Wouldn't take much time or effort.

I actually have an a7 - I've been using it for dripping on my Buzz Pro. I just can't get over how tall it is - topping my Grand with an a7 would make my rig start competing for space in my pocket. I wish they had a shorter top cap for it, because once I got it working, it does work well.

I've been trying to think of a way to shorten the A7 as well... there is just way too much dead space inside that atty....
Its a shame tap and die kits dont have this thread size...

Yeah, the shortness of some of the others, including Reomizer, are definitely an advantage. Think A7 is tall? I got a SS Vision Eternity. It fits the small REOs and brass CCs of most Woods, but it's almost as tall as a REO Mini without a DT on it. And it can't be made any shorter without remilling the thread on top cap in order to take out one of the three peices. By the time one spends cost for milling it, if unable to DIY, might as well buy Hornet that cost three times what a Reomize cost if purchased retail.

Here's the photo - there's only one spot that got hot enough to be even a little bit blue. Otherwise it's just an uneven yellowish color all around:
