Go right ahead and toot Kristin, this is still one of the best mods I've been using for quite some time now!

I personally haven't tried it with regular teabag material, so that is just the opinion of a couple people who did. They haven't come back to say if they were still using it that way, so I don't know if it is a lasting mod that way. I just don't see how it could work as well as the PTB, though. I guess people can try it and if it doesn't work, get the PTB, because I KNOW that works! lolIf I missed this answer in previous posts, I apologize: How often do you find you need replace the teabag? How long does a cart generally last you?
Also, in a previous post you mentioned regular tea bags work, too. While this might be true, I made the mistake of starting out doing the original tea bag mod with regular tea bags. I thought it was good, but not stellar.
The material used for the pyramid tea bags is far superior.
Thanks,
Dean in South Jersey
I had an issue with the straw as well, been using the PTB with this insertion suggestion and no straw.cleaned the cart tonight and found out it was running fine without the straw.
Hey Dean,I had an issue with the straw as well, been using the PTB with this insertion suggestion and no straw.
Have you continued to use this insertion method with no straw?
Kristin- I am totally new to this, but if I'm getting good vape, no leakage and holding 13-15 drops of juice with your insertion (flower stem) method but no straw, what do you think? What risks am I taking by not using the straw?
I grasp the PTB at the center of the square and gather it around the tiny tweezers, then gently insert the PTB into the cart. If I get any resistance, I remove the tweezers, turn them over and use the blunt end to get the PTB safely in the cart. It still has all the folds like in your pic.
Let me know if I'm screwing something up here.

Awesome! Glad to hear it!!Kristin - I'm glad I ran into this thread and found out about your PTB "flower" method. It's working like a charm for me! Thanks for sharing it!
OK, I always liked the pyramid tea bag material, but fussing with the folding & shredding and carmelizing was a pain. I was using the RSP Mod and having issues with finding the right plug. I kept coming back to the PTB material, but couldn't figure out how to use it as a plug - but I think I got it! I've been using it for 3 days now and I haven't encountered any issues, other than not to overfill it.
Basically, it's the straw with a PTB plug, but instead of folding and rolling and shredding, just using it to plug the cart. The straw holds it in place better, keeping it pressed against the atty, but I have used it without the straw, as well. So far, it wicks really well, uses approx 95% of the liquid before needing a refill, refills easily (without having to remove - something the other "plug" mods don't do) and washes well for reuse. I'd love for some others to try it out, tweek it, to see if it works as well for them - especially since it SHOULD work with just about any cart size. I think the straw could be made even shorter, with the same effect, to take up even less space, but it does help hold up the plug from being pushed back into the cart.
Below is a pictorial, which should show everything - but it's VERY easy. Please read the photo captions for additional information.

Straws are 5mm (1/4") diameter, both straws and tea were purchased at a Walmart Super Store.

Empty tea bag.
![]()
Cut straw to 10mm-15mm long and notch one end. Cut the PTB into 2 seperate pieces, trim off edges. Put one piece aside for another cart.
![]()
Put straw all the way into the cart, notches towards the mouth end, notches facing the short sides of the cart.
![]()
Take one piece of the PTB and center on a long, thin, pointed object. It would look like a flower upside down on the stem. If you don't have long tweezers, a tine of a meat fork or a small screwdriver works, too. Just be careful not to poke a hole when pushing it into the cart.
![]()
Gently push PTB into the cart, until the tweezers hit the bottom of the cart.
![]()
Trim off the excess, flush with the end of the cart.
![]()
It may have open spaces like this.
![]()
Spread the layers with your tweezers to fill the opening more evenly.
![]()
Fill with your favorite liquid, 10-12 drops.
If you have a very thin liquid, you may want to use two pieces of PTB. If you have a very thick liquid, you may want to omit the straw.
Lots of things to like about this mod! No exact cuts to anything. No exact fitting. No removing anything to refill. Withholding judgement on leakage until I've used it longer. Did you use a standard 510 cart? I have megas and am wondering if I should use a bigger piece of tb?
Awesome!I'm on day 3 of this, and I love it!! No more juice pooling at the mouth end, while the atty end is bone dry. No more squooshing filler down into pooled juice and then trying to fluff it back up.
I even made one for hubby and a friend at work. We all have Tornadoes, and we all love the mod!!!
