So I opened my mailbox earlier tonight to find a card from the city council.
Starting on January 1st 2015 smoking is prohibited in public places, commercial areas in multi-unit housing in El Cerrito. The restriction extends 25 feet around all smoke free areas and includes smoking all forms of tobacco and using electronic smoking devices.
Effective january 1, 2015
Public and commercial smoke-free areas: public parks, open spaces, trails, city facilities, public sidewalks, public events ( including festivals, farmers' markets), commercial zone properties, including outdoor areas, and any place of employment.
At this point the only place I'll be able to legally vape sans harassment is inside my apartment and they mean to take that away in October after the lease renews just because they don't have the power to alter a contract already in effect.
I'm determined to fight this. I'm not sure how effective this will be, but, it's ridiculous. The cigarettes I get but vaping is just being lumped in the same category be it because it's not been fully vetted by some federal researcher or people balk at the nicotine or the dead horse that is the children are impressionable.
Are there any resources that might help here be it information, bodies, or whatever?
