This the saddest day for me. I know it was the right thing to do but it doesn't make it any easier :(

Can really empathize. Wife and I are facing the same approaching for our dear old Sammy, the most congenial black lab ever known and he knew everybody. So sorry, really think our dogs are better than most people.

Peace

Thanks everyone. it really sucks. I should have listened when everyone told me not to stay in the room, It was awful. My friend that went with me made me leave the room, That is something I won't get out of my head for a while. My poor Lox doesn't understand he keeps sniffin Linkins bed and whining.

Hi Kellie,
I am so sorry for your loss. I just had to put one of my cats to sleep 3 weeks ago. It still hurts, a lot. Our pets count on us to take care of them and make the right decisions for them. I know I did the right thing by not letting him suffer anymore. The guilt on the other hand is a bit overwhelming at times. His sister still looks for him on a nightly basis and it breaks my heart. Be strong, it does get better :)

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I don't know you...don't recall if I've ever interacted w/ you in any post...

But I definitely know the pain and I am sorry to hear of the loss of your family member. Our animals are part of our family - Our pack.

If you have children, you also know the importance they play in helping us mold our children into caring and decent human beings as many times, they are the first thing children learn to care about and have a respect for outside of themselves.

If it's any consolation at all, know that when their suffering finally outweighs their ability to enjoy or have any quality of life, helping them to finally end that suffering is the final, defacto PROOF that you loved them.

Stay strong.
