Putting the sweet in the vape

I am getting started on DIY juice. Something I have not seen is what to add to make those sweet tasting flavors. I will be using 100% vg as my base, also vg with nic for that hit. I have ordered a few flavors, some sweet then some menthol, which I still need. Just wondering what else, since the cartos I bought already filled are almost ready for more juice. Need the sweet stuff, and to know how much to add.

I do most of my DIY juices using 50PG/50VG...the VG by itself is sweet enough, and only adds a hint of sweetness, which is perfect for me! Even DIY juices at 60/40 and 70/30, there is enough hint of sweetness for me! I am not a 'sweets' person, and have not needed to add any sweetner to any of my DIY juices! I just made a sample of 80/20, and there is no more sweetness!

My suggestion is to make a small sample (2ml) with only VG...vape that and see what you think! If you feel you need to add sweetness, only add one drop at a time, and test vape between each drop! Flavors are unique to each person, so what works for me, may not work for you!

If the VG alone isn't sweet enough you can add Sweetener or Ethyl Maltol to your mixes. I use Sweetener in some of my mixes and usually 1 drop for every 3-4mls of juice is plenty! For my coffee mixes, I also use the Sweet Cream flavor. Again, you only need 1 drop for every 3-4mls of juice.

Geoff over at tastyvapor sells a liquid sweetener, 15ml bottle for like $3 that works well

diluted Splendex (sucralose = sugar type sweetness) or diluted Ethyl Maltol (burnt sugar cotton candy type sweetness good for caramels etc)

I found both on the web. Not sure but I may have gotten one (the pre-diluted Splendex/Sucralose) at Tasty Vapor and one (the already dissolved and diluted Ethyl Maltol) at Perfumer's Apprentice? And instead of the Ethyl Maltol i think you can just use Perfumer's Apprentice cotton candy flavoring which I think is also a 10% dilution of Ethyl Maltol in PG

Don't use sugar, corn syrup, or anything else with real sugar - will gunk up atty badly

I too have a few carts that have just started to run dry. I don't have any nic juice yet (some on order), so I hit up hobby lobby for their (limited) flavor section in the cake decorating section. They had a 60mL bottle of Wiltons(tm) glycerin for $1.99 and some 3.7mL Lorann flavorings, 2 bottles for $2.10.

I picked up some cherry and english toffee. Everybody here on the forum says to use zero nic when you start DIY anyway, so I figued the worst I could do is hoze a few used carts.

While the english toffee isn't "candy sweet" I will say it is very tasty, has great flavor on the exhale. I didn't even have a bottle for my first test, just put 6 drops of Vg into a cart condom with 3 drops of toffee. I had an eye dropper, so popped the top off the cart and dropped it in while holding the cart tilted. A good t-spin and let it sit for at least an hour (more if you can stand the wait).

If you like toffee/butter rum type of taste this is WONDERFUL! With the VG you get really good vapor quantity, for me it makes up for the total lack of nic.

Same for the cherry I had, 6 drops (from an eye dropper) of VG to 3 drops of flavor. Great cherry flavor, but I'm not sure this would give you the 'sweet' you are hoping for. I was quite impressed how a $7.00 investment is helping me build a nice collection of "pacifier" carts I can vape away on between "real" nic hits. Several have been refilled with this same mix 3x so far, just need to watch out for the burning taste. As soon as you even get a HINT of that, stop using the cart an refill.

Please note, I too am a newbie (still posting here cuz I can't post anywhere else yet even). I'm sure alot of my experiences would be called into question from other more aged members of the forum, but at least I'm not messing around with 36mg nic or anything crazy like that!

I make a batch of cotton candy 10% flavoring, 8mg then add the other flavoring at 10-15% to that mix. All my mixes are really good and sweet. By the time I add the second flavoring my juice is right about 6mg.
