After vaping the 510 for over three months, the only "premature part failure" I'm experiencing is that I keep stripping the threads on the batteries.

I would like to know ways I might compensate for my carelessness by either reducing the possibility of stripping the thread and/or repairing stripped threads. Other than a good cleaning, of course, as it is not always convenient to clean them well.

If anyone says to "just clean them", I'll learn something useful about you :)

Thanks,
Dave

Just clean them! ;-)

Seriously though, as with any time I am threading something on as in a nut to a bolt (and to me, this is no different), I just try to make sure it is lined up straight and start slow. Another trick I do sometimes (although it doesn't seem as necessary with these e-cigs.... maybe the fine threads) is to slowly start threading it on backwards. You can often feel where the threads mate up well and can then reverse direction and start threading it on as normal.

I really can't think of any other advise. I know some people are more prone to cross-threading things than others, but using my methods above, I'm usually not prone to doing that (although it has happened.... but not yet on an e-cig).

Oh, as for repairing.... other than re-tapping, the best way to fix screwed up threads is to mate it up with something made of a harder metal. I.E. If your battery threads are messed up (female on the 510), you might be able to repair the threads if you could find a steel bolt with the correct threads and use that to re-thread the battery, which I believe is brass. Of course, AFAIK, nobody has figured out the thread size of these e-cig batteries. About the only thing you could do is bring a perfect battery to the hardware store and start SLOWLY threading bolts into it. Just don't go all the way in or you may end up shorting the battery.
