Six pounders are nice. definitely rod bending. That bass is my record bass. I only bass fished once last year, and hired a guide who is a retired pro bass fisherman. Andy Cuccia "The Cooch" is his name. He is quite a character. It just so happens I traded him two box mod setups for a guide trip out on the Delta. And it just so happens I caught my lifetime best bass that day, and also got the largest client fish for him all year. He is the president of my bowling league which is how I know him.
Its been a while since I have posted this info so I thought I would do it again. I shipped a lot of variable voltage mods lately, and want to give some pointers on voltage settings with different ohm ratings on your attys and cartos.
Be careful if you are a dripper, and wipe up any leaks.
Each VV mod is marked right on the dial at 4v, 5v, and 6v.
I usually use 1.7xl single coil smoktech cartos at 4v, and sometimes a little lower depending on the juice.. I also us 3.2ohm single coil cartos at 5v, and again, a little less depending on the liquid.
Here are some general rule of thumbs
3.7 box mod. - you can use 1.5dual coils, 1.7 to 2 ohm single coil cartos and attys.
5v box mod - I would stick to 3.0 to 3.2 ohms. 2.0 dual coils can also be used at 5v, or slightly less in a vv mod. 2.5 dual coil work, but they are a little light for me on a 5v mod, which defeats the purpose of higher voltage IMO. YMMV
VV mod
use the above info in selecting your voltage.
I also have a video on youtube on how to check the ohms on a carto.
here it is.
