I have two ego twists and two Itaste vv v3's that I use in rotation.

I have a bunch of iclear 16s, a mini vivi nova, an evod, and now a mini protank.

The iclears work great on all 4 batteries with no fiddling whatsoever. Screw it on and vape.

But the mini vivi nova, the evod and the protank never contact the battery right without three minutes of trying to pull the contact up higher so the clearo will contact the battery and fire. Sometimes I just give up, it's just not something I can mess with all the time or when I'm driving.

Is there a trick to keeping the battery contact up high enough so I can use the other three clearos without having to fix it every time? I end up not using three pretty awesome clearos because I just get so frustrated that I throw them in a drawer and let them sit. I just got the new mini protank and I don't want that to happen with yet another one...

When it comes to the fixed height / spring-loaded contacts, you have to be a little more careful about how tight you screw tank your tank , carto, etc on because screwing it down too tight can damage the contacts and push them down further or bend the springs. This is a big problem on most of the Vamo's (I know that's not what we're talking about here; using it as an example). If you search around here, you can see the issue with those.

How tight do you normally screw things down? Are you screwing down finger-tight or trying to make sure it's on there as tight as possible?

Have you tried adjusting the pin on the clearo? The part that makes the connection. I just take a really small flathead and pull it down ever so slightly and make sure not to mover tighten and that usually takes care of it for me. I had an evod acting up and after one adjustment it's been fine.
