Wrong and wrong. Again, security's blessing means absolutely nothing. Unless it is specified in the lease that the coffee shop signed that the mall permits e-cigarette use and they have to also (which clearly is not the case), it is moot. As the designated manager, he as full legal authority to act on the owner's behalf in an instance such as this. The OP did not even contact the owner until afterwards so that is moot also.

I'm not challenging the tenant's right to "refuse service", but challenging the absurdity.

I didn't say you were the one shoving it in anyone's face. The op was doing that. One needs to be polite and if someone asks you not to vape in a place that doesn't allowing smoking, I feel that one must not vape for the reasons I explained.

There have been a few people who have posted here that tell about how they have pushed the limits and usually yes, ended up in a heated argument. Personally I do not think this type of behavior helps shed a postive light on vaping. It only gives fuel for those who already have nothing better to do than fight against us. Educate the ones who want to be educated but please don't feel the need push the envelope for the greater good. Just my own opinion.

The proper thing to do is to put it away if your asked not to use it.Its just the right thing to do.

Absolutely. But this guy (manager who would give him name) crossed lines in both ignorance and refusal to identify. That doesn't even begin to hit on morality of service in which we accept responsibility for our actions.

The man no matter how rude, and he was rude, has a right to do what he wants in his own store. We have a long road a head of us, it wont be easy but I too like many others do not vape anywere smokers cant smoke. It may be water vaper but there is still nicotine in it which makes it technically a cigarette. We can split hairs from here to enternity but our freedom is years away. I can be patient waiting for that day. I like to think of us as the underdogs, and we will prevail.

My question is there anything I can do about this, like file a suit or something?

Not a thing. Any store has the right to kick anyone out that they wish, so long as it isn't for one of the specifically prohibited reasons, such as race. you can be kicked out for wearing the wrong shoes, or just because they don't like you.

I understand being ...... about it, but they were legally within their rights.

I just have to address this -- it's not water vapor that we're exhaling. It's pg & vg. That actually matters, and in trying to be accepted we should be honest.

But I disagree about it technically being a cigarette. Technically, a cigarette is a tube of tobacco. Our pvs are absolutely not that.

But it seems that we're "lumped in".

It isn't a cigarette. Frankly, I wish the FDA would just certify our use. Seems dishonest, otherwise.

Honestly..We'll be lucky if they just allow e-cigs to remain legal....If anyone thinks vaping is going to become a universal "right" and we are going to be allowed to vape whenever and wherever we please...you're dreaming...

I'm a total dreamer. I strongly believe that in 50 years, it could be all vaping an no smoking and no more restrictions.

Back in the old days of tobacco usage, the leading usage was cigars and pipes. Then a bag of tobacco with some papers for a roll your own. It wasn't until WW1 that prepackaged cigarettes took off and eventually replaced the other forms. I'm convinced that the major tobacco companies will eventually jump on the bandwagon and control the entire system through the FDA. E-cigs will replace analogs as the leading dispenser of nicotine via the tobacco cos. E-cigs will be taxed like cigs by various government agencies and the juice will be preloaded in cartos by the companies so the FDA can totally regulate it. We are probably living in the golden age of vaping right now. Analogs will go the way of cassette tapes and CDs. That's what I think.
