Okay I cant seem to find a video on this question, so I will just ask about it here (being a newbie in all)!

So thanks to the advice of several members I am going to purchase the kgo. Looks like a solid PV and the price looks great (considering I have made several bad purchases already)!

Ithink I am going to purchase from Hoosier, which sells the kgo with attys and cartridges. After doing some research it looks like I will probably want to use cartomizers on a regular basis with this PV, at least that's my assumption is, as of this minute. So my question is;ds to taste different juices, without ruining cartomizers, would I want to drip onto the atty or would I use the cartridges that will come with this PV? I cant seem to find out a lot of info about these cartridges. Is it like a tank that screws onto the atty? Or would the preferred tasting method be to drip onto the atty? If so do I just need a drip tip and atty to make that happen? I have never dripped, being that my only current e cigs are pen style/minis.

I am figuring that I will be buying quite a few sample kits from different e juice vendors, so whatever method you guys suggest, I will probably be doing it a lot during the evenings and weekends. That way when I do find the flavors/strengths that I like the best, I can fill up some 510 cartos and be on my merry way.

Like I said before I am just trying to figure out what is the best method to try different e juices, without ruining cartomizers.

Thanks in advance,

A newly addicted vape head!

I suggest using an atty to test flavors. Remember a kgo is not 510, 901, or anything compatible, so you will have to stick to the few online sites to purchase new cartos and attys specifically made for the KGO. Take a look at the EGO. Every website I've come across has alot of stuff that works with the typical 510 connection. I have friends that love their KGO, they just hate me because i get my cartos for half the price I have to pay. Not too mention that if you get into mods or anything, 90 percent are 510 connection based and the other 10 is 901's.

Ok now I am confused! I am looking at the SLB Kgo from Hoosier. Everything I have read so far says that it is a 510 thread (same as eGo)! So can anyone who has this exact PV, verify that this is a 510 connection?

If wasnt a 510, I probably wouldnt buy it! I have a e cig kit that use a DSE906 thread and I cant find parts for it anywhere. I dont want to buy the Kgo and end up with the same issues I have now!

Thanks

jdiulus, the KGO uses ANY 510 carto or atty. They are not proprietary in that regard. The USB charger is proprietary to the KGO, and I believe backwards-compatible to the Ego.

With a 510 to 808/901 adapter, you can also use 808 cartos and 901 attys (or similar 808/901 threading).

I have six KGOs, different colors. I went with the kits that have the cartomizers, not the atty/cartridge combo.

If you do go with the atty/cartridge combo, you will have to pierce the tank first, which is prefilled with juice already. Everyone I know just throws out those cartridges, as they are meant as a one-time use, and most people don't like the juice.

I may be wrong, but I believe it is the same concept, or pretty dang close, to the Ego tank system. YouTube should have loads of videos on the tank/atty combo.

EGOs are a lower voltage than KGOs. They drop to a voltage, I believe, of 3.3 to 3.4, which is why KGOs have become so popular. KGOs come off the charger around 4.1-4.2 v, and lowest drop in voltage is a steady 3.6-3.7 v. Some people with reg carts and attys meter them in around the 4 volt mark. It's hard to believe that a few .x drop in voltage makes a difference, but I have found it does...and I can tell the difference.

Like all PVs, mileage varies, including who gets which voltage, and who gets a different voltage. I have never owned an EGO because I don't like lower than 3.6-3.7 voltage as the bottom-out.

I personally don't like the idea of the cartridge/atty combo, but you might think differently.

Oh, I also believe that KGOs do better with LR atty and cartos because of the higher voltage. At least from the videos and reviews I've gone through.

Personal experience, I use reg and LR attys to test juices, and then I fill <matching> LR and reg cartos with what deserves a carto. Some juices don't need a bump in taste, so reg carto or atty is perfect. Some juice need that bump in power, so LR carto or atty is the optimum choice.

Hope this helps.

To drip, hold a kleenex at the screw end and blow thru the open end in to get any oil out that some attys are sent with. You will only need to do this with new attys and some attys do not have any oil in them. Screw the atty into the battery. It must be a manual battery as they are sealed so juice can not get into the battery which would ruin it. The Kgo is a sealed battery so you will be fine. Drop 3 drops of eliquid on the atty and put on your drip tip. You will be able to take 3 or 4 vapes. Then to continue dripping, drop 2 or 3 more drops on the atty and continue on. You can either take the drip tip off to do this, or just put the drops in thru the Drip Tip and give a gently puff to make sure the drops get down to the atty. You will not need to clean the atty between flavors as the atty will be pretty dry after 3 or 4 vapes.

Cartridges are basically just tubes with a loose filling inside, sort of a tiny tank, and it just slips into the atty, no screws.

It seems complicated, but you'll find it's wonderful when you get it. I have a KGO and LOVE it. I do exactly what you want to do as well. I use cartos (no problem with fitting cartos, it is a 501 and takes any standard 501 carto) for vaping my favorite juices, and I drip to taste new flavors (saved me from ruining a carto yesterday on a nasty sample juice, lol). All you do when you drip is (prepare the atty when it's new like the poster above mentioned by blowing out any primer that may be in there) then screw it on to the battery. Drip about three drops of your juice directly into the atty, attach your drip tip and vape away. It gives GREAT vapor that way too.

Ok great tips from everyone! I definitely appreciate the help! It's hard to visualize the questions I had until you guys explained them as thoroughly as you all have. Well now that I know the Kgo is using 510, and plus I haven't heard a bad thing about it, it seems like a no brainer!

I just cant wait to have a rig that has so many options and performs as well. I have been reverting back to my blu cigs as my everyday grinder and it is such a pain in the ...! I like the taste of the blu carts but I hate everything else about them. The batteries are god awful! I get 15 minutes top off of a battery and because I am a heavy vapor, they have this dumb ... cut off feature after 5 puffs. The only time they are enjoyable is with a fresh battery and fresh cartomizer, and that only lasts mere minutes. Not to mention I vape about 3 cartomizers a day which at this point is more expensive than when i was smoking analogs. To tell you the truth, it's a freaking miracle that I haven't switched back to analogs while figuring out what PV I should buy next.

Well I guess the only thing left to do at this point is figure out what juice I am going to buy and where I am going to buy it from. It would suck to get my new Kgo in the mail and not have any juice to put in it. I am looking for a good menthol that doesn't taste like NyQuil. I would like a nice smooth cherry flavor as well. Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks

I can't help you with vendors or juice suggestions as I mostly DIY and juice is so subjective as to make suggestions mostly useless. However, I just wanted to tell you that the same flavor from different vendors will all taste different, so try a juice that sounds good to you from more than one vendor. You may get one from the 3rd vendor that just hits the spot.......LOL.....also cherry flavor is one of the more difficult juices to find that you will like. A lot of cherry juices taste like cough syrup. Good luck on your juice quest and don't give up the good fight too soon.......LOL

With the Kgo, you can use just about anything with a 510 thread. Experiment and find what you like. Dripping is best done in an atty designed for dripping. Short with a large bridge that is easy to clean, the 306 lends itself well to dripping.

306 1.8 ohm Atomizer with Colored Drip Tip

Boge 2.0 LR cartos are also a good choice, especially when you are out of the house and don't want to deal with dripping every few minutes.

I bought a KGO kit back in like October and LOVE IT! I have tried both cartos and dripping. My suggestion is that you try both. Like many of the other replies, I use dripping to try a flavor before I fill a carto. I also drip more now that I did when I first started because I can swap flavors as the mood strikes. When I got my kit, I also ordered the 1.25 ohm cartos and the bridgeless dripping atty from Brent at Hoosier. I used the cartos when I found my favorite menthol and just packed a few in my zipper kit to vape all day. I don't know what brand of analogs you smoked, but that has a bearing on your choice of juice in the beginning. Before I even picked a kit to order, I searched for MONTHS trying to find the juice that I thought would help me kick my habit. I have two suggestions for you to try- Nicotene Nirvana and ECBlend. Nic Nirvana is the juice that helped me quit. I smoked Marlboro Milds (which is more of a pepperminty menthol) for a long time. I was scared to try a regular menthol because I didn't think it would satisfy my craving. They have a polar peppermint menthol and that is what did it for me! Their juice is great, the flavors are strong but not overpowering. Try one of their samplers to see if you like any of their menthols. ECBlend is my other go-to juice vendor. They have a huge selection of flavors including do it yourself. I just ordered my second round of juices, including a peppermint menthol I mixed myself. I know that many other people swear by certain vendors and by all means, try them all but ECBlend has killer prices and 5mil bottles are only $2 after you use the new customer coupon. You can try a load of flavors till you find what you like and don't have to spend a fortune. Hope this has been helpful!

If it has carts and atty, you can drip directly onto the atty, or fill the cartridge with juice and use it that way. If it's prefilled just rinse it out, drip some juice, about 10 drops into the filling. Put it on your atomizer and on your battery. You'll need to clean both the atomizer and cartridge to change juice flavors, but it's a good way to test juice.

As far as juice, do a board search or read through the review section.

Sometimes juice 'sounds' better that it tastes. Cherry is one of them. When thinking of a flavor, do you want to taste that flavor for 12+ hours a day? A brownie might taste good, but if you ate real brownies 12 hours a day it'd make you sick.

This thread has been super helpful to me as well, because i just purchased a KGO...

Although i haven't received it yet i've been doing all the research i can so when it gets here i can spend my time vaping and not trying to learn the basics.

The only thing that confused me on this thread is where DaveP mentioned the 306 atomizer..

I'm interested in this because a couple youtube reviews that i've seen mentioned using these for dripping and i kinda got bummed because i am in the same boat as jdiulus, where i am brand new to vaping, and want to try several flavors, thus, i will be dripping... and i thought the 306 and 510 were 2 different things and i wouldn't be able to use it on my KGO..

so... the 306 is usable on a 510 setup? cause if so... i know a place that sells 2 306 attys and a highly recommended drip tip for like 20 bucks

I guess I don't understand what you buy for the dripping adventure, it sounds practical for testing. I have been using the pen style 808d's so I have been just filling a cart to test a liquid.

On another note, i just received my KGO in the mail today, its sitting on chagers right now and I am awaiting the new toy to charge for the recomended 8 hours before the first 20 minute use and charge again for 1 hour. I am hoping that this will be as good as they say because vaping like we do has been alot of labor with all of the charging and filling of carts and studying of what to do for the best experience.

We went with several different cart choices that Brent had, the EMDCC, some boge's and some regular 510 XL carts.

Namgic, IF you have a manual battery, you can drip with the atty that came with your ecig. You just need a drip tip. Yes, there are special attys for dripping, the 306 comes to mind, but you don't really need it. Some people who drip a lot prefer it, but it's just personal preference, not a necessity.

If you have an auto battery, DO NOT drip. You will kill the battery.

Well I'm glad to hear that you can drip with any atty and don't necessarily need to buy the .306 atty. Ramathorn, me and you were thinking the exact same thing when we read that reply that suggested using the .306 atty. My assumption is that you would have to buy a 510 to 306 adapter to use a 306 atty on the kgo. I am thankful that dearme posted that reply saying you can drip with any atty as long as your battery is manual!

I am excited now. I just hope it doesn't take forever to find the real good flavors that I will want to vape on a daily basis. I will probably try some of the exotics like cotton candy or brownie, but I cant imagine wanting to use those on a daily basis. I was a menthol smoker (Newport) and I would like to find something comparable to that. I am probably going to start with Johnson Creek. That's what I am most familiar with being that I have been vaping blu carts since I quit smoking 3 wks ago. I know that JC doesn't have those same exact juices for sale on their site, but I have to assume there are similarities to the ones they make for Blu!

Well anyhow I guess I'm off to find my juices and decide which vendor/site that I am going to purchase the Kgo from. I keep hearing about Brent from Hoosier. So I guess that's probably where I am going to purchase the Kgo from. The kit he sells has the 2 attys with 5 prefilled tanks. This will probably work out good since I will be doing a lot of testing prior to filling up a cartomizer (which I will have to purchase seperately from him)!
