Question about eGo USB Battery (Passthrough)

Does the eGo passthrough battery need to be plugged in to be used, or can you unplug it after letting it charge and use it on the go?

If it can be used unplugged, is the amount of time you get the same as a regular eGo battery?

It can be unplugged and last about the same amount of time unplugged as a regular 650mAh ego. Here is a link with reviews
