Hello again all,

Just recently picked up a handful of LorAnn Oils for adding a bit more flavor to some of my pre mixed e- liquids. After getting them home I noticed quite a few of them were Oil based or "Non-water soluble" the Orange,Tangerine, and Lime. And after doing some reading around here on the boards I found that oil based flavoring is generally frowned upon in e liquids.

Why that is though I'm not exactly sure, was hoping some of you more knowledgeable folks here might be of assistance. Is it because of them not mixing well and clogging attys?Or is there real health concerns with the oil based mixes? Which is kind of the impression I was getting from some of my readings.

Any info that can clear this up for me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

It is a health concern, and causes problems with equipment.

Some flavors are oil based to begin with, but flavor companies use pure grain alcohol to turn them into a water soluble flavor - this won't work with the flavorings that you already purchased because it would dilute them too much.

You don't want to vape the oil-based flavors. That's not good for you at all. Sounds like you've been in the DIYers section to learn a little about it. Keep reading. You'll toss those flavors or make a key-lime pie or something with them.

Great!! Thanks Boodle! Now I want some key lime pie! :p

There are guides that show you which flavors are suiatable and which aren't. If you have an iphone the ejuice app is great and has a list of flavor vendors and which flavors of theirs are good to use and which are suspect. I've generally been staying away from LorAnns because a lot of their flavors show up as suspect.

DIY section link below

Read the guide - it probably contains or has a link to a list of Lorann flavors noting which are not-water soluble, any that are unsafe to vape etc. Some flavoring lists also have suggested percentages to try first. Most recommend you first try your percentage with plain PG and then once you find the percentage you like, make it with the more expensive nicotine liquid included.
