I don't own the Subox Mini Kit but I do have the Kanger Subtank Mini (the same tank as is in this kit).

Huge thead: Kanger Subox Mini Kit | E-Cigarette Forum

1. Replaceable battery (recommended you purchase at least a 20A CDR battery)
2. Can use pre-built OCC coils - available in horizontal or vertical
3. RBA base included. You can build your own coils if you choose.

18650 batteries you can look for:

1. Orbtronic SX30 2100mAh 30A
2. Sony VTC4 2100mAh 30A
3. Xtar 2100mAh 30A (re-wrapped Sony VTC4)

1. AW 1600mAh 24A
2. Orbtronic SX22 2000mAh 22A
3. LG HE2 2500mAh 20A
4. Samsung 25R 2500mAh 20A -- This is the 20A battery I use in some of my other mods.
5. AW 2200mAh 20A (new)
6. Sony VTC5 2500mAh 20A

Kangertech suggested operating range for their OCC coils. You don't have to run at these ranges. It just give you some idea of how low/high you might go. As with any coil, prime them well (dropping juice directly into the coil head and into the coil holes) before you fill up your tank and assemble. Once you fill up the tank take a few primer puffs without pressing the fire button to make sure the coils are well primed with juice. Adjust your power or voltage low and slowly raise it up until you are satisfied. If you start to get a burnt taste (dry hit), back it down a notch or two.

Horizontal OCC Coils
0.5 Ω coils - 15 watts to 30 watts.
1.2 Ω coils - 12 watts to 25 watts.

Vertical OCC Coils
0.5Ω coils - 15 watts to 60 watts
1.2Ω coils - 10 watts to 26 watts
1.5Ω coils - 10 watts to 26 watts

The Subox kit is good, I use it myself (though I have more devices higher on the food chain), but as your main setup you may want to look at something like the EvicVT instead. I don't know if Kanger has updated the pin to a spring loaded one, if not, it kind of locks you into the Sub Tank mini. The Kbox mini also does not have temp control, where the Evic does. The Evic also has 10 more watts. The downside of the Evic, at least for me, is the battery is not removable and I don't believe the atty in the Evic kit is rebuildable.

If I was getting into vaping right now I would look into a device with at least 60 watts that has temp control and a rebuildable RTA like the Sub Tank mini. The Sigelei 75 watt looks nice, but I have not heard too much about it.

@Frenchfry1942 thanks for the awesome video links, I'll watch them and learn more about it ! At the same time, I was thinking of building a double coil for this tank, will it affect taste as to improving it ?
Hi and welcome to the board. You won't get a dual coil build in a subtank, there's no room (or terminal connections) for it. For that you'll need a dual coil RTA. I have and use the Foggers. I've got a V4, two V4.1s and 2 V6s. I like them all. I am also considering a Silverplay V2.

what is plastic?
The buttons are plastic, the internal frame that holds the electronic is plastic, the case is metal (zinc diecast I think), the drip tip is derlin (the black box gets one tip, the white gets a black and a white tip), the tank is metal and glass with silicon o rings.

The paint holds up well except on the edges.

I own a subox mini kit and an e-leaf 50w and I like the eleaf better. Eleaf has internal batteries that last double the time, fits in my hand better and feels more solid. Subox looks cooler but that's about it for me. This is my personal preference though, I bought it for the looks to replace my istick but find that I only used it for the first couple of days and went beck to my old setup.

I own many Devices for their own Unique Features, Purposes and what I want and expect them to do for me.
Own a SubBox Mini and 3 STM's. They are awesome little Devices in my Book and perform quite well for what they are and what they are meant to be and do.
I personally have never had any Issue or Problem with the dreaded and much bemoaned Top-Pin or its purported Weaknesses.
However, others obviously have. I know of others who likewise have had the same Zero Complaints as I.
Given that,,,, logically it is safe to attribute the Issues to Individual User Causalities.
I agree that a true "Spring-Loaded" Pin is/would be desirable. But, it is not a "Deal-Breaker" nor is it the Pariah that some make it out to be IMO.

I Like it and give it a +1 :thumb:

It's kinda hard to source for mods here due to the strict laws, I might just have to make do with what I am presented with *sigh*
You should be able to find the Kanger Subox Mini Kit in JB (if vendors are not sold out). A few members I saw posting did get theirs there.
