I've been itching to try the Pecan Pie for some time now, and finally pulled the trigger on an order. Received it yesterday and had to immediately try it. I'm hoping that it gets better with age, because it doesn't taste anything like Pecan Pie to me (and I know my Pecan Pie!). I'm speed steeping it in hot water right now hoping the flavors mesh a lot better.

Is this one that needs to steep for a week or two before it's good?

It's been a while since I vaped that flavor (we have so many, I have to rotate!) so I don't recall steeping times for that particular flavor off the top of my head but, in general, almost all flavors are better with steeping. You can also take a look at the batch number (located on the bottom left of the label) which corresponds to the date it was mixed. Keep in mind, e-liquid steeps much faster in smaller bottles so you may need to add extra steeping time for a 1 ounce bottle versus a sample.

I always thought that the steeping didn't begin until the bottle was opened. For example, the Kona Velvet always arrives as a fairly pale colour and as it steeps it gets darker. This is how I know when it's ready...regardless of the batch date.

Also...leaving it uncapped for a couple of days until the alcohol smell is gone.

I hope it gets better for you, retired1. :) I haven't tried the Pecan Pie but now I do want to eat one. With whipped cream...

You may also want to uncap it for about 48 hrs to allow any residual ethyl alcohol in the flavor base to evaporate. Give that a try and see if it helps. ETA: You know, what Lou said in that post right above mine.

And LouP, may I pull up a fork and help you with that pie, cuz it sounds like retired1 doesn't need any help with his? :D

A note about batch dates. The batch date is the date the e-liquid was mixed in our lab as we tie this number to our batch log to track nicotine batches, flavor batches, etc. This is not necessarily the same date that it was bottled. Since e-liquid steeps so much faster in smaller bottles, this does give some variation in how well steeped an individual bottle is depending on whether the batch was bottled right away or steeped in a larger container (we only use glass containers!) for a while before being bottled. It's always best to go by your individual taste to decide when a particular flavor is steeped enough for you. As my tastes have gotten more refined, I've found I like three months of steeping or more when I can get it!
