I have a quick question to all to pro-vapers out there.

I'm looking at getting a Lavatube to go with my current ADV (DK-TAB). I'm a little confused about what carto/clearo I should be using. There are so many to choose from but, ideally, I'd like to get everything from the same supplier.

If you could impart your vaping wisdom on me, I'd really appreciate it!

Only comment I would have is the voltage drop off issue with the LT as the battery fades. In this case would it be better to have a high resistance carto ?

Well, I've read that the LR is a no-no on the LT, but that's it. I'm assuming HR is just the regular carto?

It's just so confusing. There's Smoketech, Kanger, Boge, MEGA. Yikes! So many cartos, so little time...

Yep the choices of atomizers/cartomizers/clearomizers/tanks/dual-coil etc. can get a bit confusing :)

What have you been using up until now?

I was using an Ego Mega 1000mAh (3.3v) with Bloog cartos (cause I bought 50 - what was I thinking?!?!). Now I'm on Kanger Dual Coils and they seem okay, but don't seem last that long (or is it just me?).

I definitely prefer cartos over tanks and dripping. Never tried a clearo though. Honestly, I'm open to anything right about now. (No snickering, please).

Any advice?

Check out CANVAPE as they have the best prices on the Lava tubes and visions. Be sure to watch Mindfields (Vaporchase) youtube video on the mods for the Visions. I don't think you could go wrong with that setup. Any questions you you have just shoot them an email. Tom will probable respond before you even send it. :D

I'm quite certain the LT has regulated voltage output. Meaning it will keep the set voltage until the battery no longer has enough juice to support said voltage, at which point, it just shuts off.

It's not a no-no, moreso that a bunch of people will turn their noses up at you for using LR consumables on the LavaTube because of the limited range it will allow you. I have a bunch of Boge 2.0 ohm cartos and I plan on using them all on the LT, I get plenty of variety in terms of VV, high enough to burn the juice and down from there to 3.0V.

Supposedly, there's a video on youtube in which a guy demonstrated the LT's inability to maintain the set voltage when the battery is at lower capacity. I haven't tested this for myself but if it is indeed the case it is likely caused by higher internal resistances of the battery which causes an extra 0.1 - 0.3V drop under load. If you notice the extra tenth or two of a volt drop just bump the voltage up a bit until the battery dies completely.

I would also highly recommend getting a 5 pack of atties; they make sampling painless and are indispensable if you start DIY mixing. The only ones I've purchased that worked are the 510 LR Atties from Eastmall.net, I bought some from a more local vendor that were duds and the Eastmall ones came highly recommended.

That guy would be me, and that video can be found HERE

It's not so much people turning their noses up at people using LRs, it's just that the LT has a max amperage of 2.5 which means the max voltage the LT could handle with a 2.0ohm carto is 5V and even then it's been known to be a bit wonky when reaching the 2.5amp mark.

If you enjoy LR attys by all means, you'll still have some room to play with, IMO you should pick up a bunch of different cartos and attys to play around with and see what strikes your fancy.

Everybody is raving about the Extreme Visions (once they've been properly adjusted) and they have the perfect 2.8-3.0ohm range that would allow you to really get the most out of your LT.
oh wow, just checked your link.
what is the capacity on those, ml.
have YOU used them?
what is YOUR personal opinion on them?
and what do you mean "properly adjusted"?

The Boge LR's were the first carto I decided to purchase based on info I found on ECF; I really like them and straying from them to try others, so far has not beared any fruit, and only lead to frustration and wasted money. When the Boge LR's are as good as I think they are and only $22.50 for 25 of them the choice is easy. I may decide to pick up some standard res Boges but I have enough LR's for about a year plus I'm getting more into dripping so they'll last even longer.

Currently I'm using SMK tank atomizers with the SMK tank carts. They seem to work nicely. I also use an LR atty and drip when in front of the TV. The SMK is 2.5 ohm and I vap at anything from 3.5 to 4.3 on it depending on the juice. Tobacco I tend to go a bit higher and fruit types a bit lower.

My LR I never go above 3.7 and as as low as 3.0. Again it depends on the juice mostly.

I also find that first thing in the morning I don't want it at the 3.7 to 4.3 mark. I usually turn it down to 3.3 or so. I find the throat hit that early a bit harsh. I'm trying to stop coughing up a lung in the morning!

Finally all of these atties are 510 as that's what the LTVV comes with. There are also adapters you can get to use just about any atty/cart combo you want.
