question for all you do it yourselfers

i would like to make some blueberry and blackberry flavoring. i own 4 acres of land that is all blueberry field with blackberry bushes around the perimeter. anyone know how to make homeade flavorings out of fresh berries?

I think you will have a problem with sugar content. Sugar+e-cig=no more atty(ask how I know). I don't know any way to extract flavor from fruit without getting sugar in it.

i dont use attys. i was thinking it would work in cartomizers. probably shorten the lifespan though.

Cartos still have an atty, it'll still fry. The sugar reduces and cruds it up, and at least on the atty I took appart, the coil actually broke. I believe that when the sugar reduces down, it can short out the atty coil, or simply cause it to have hot spots. Also, the atty coil needs juice to flow over it to cool it. It can't do that if it's all gummed up.

Your right, if you don't mind losing a few cartos now and then, I guess you could do an alcohol extraction. Probably the best way.

never thought of using google. ill see what i can find. i was just seeing if anyone had any experience doing this kind of thing.

Well. typically alcohol extractions are done using a perfumers still. You'll have to check local regs on that. Some states allow it, some don't. But since you have so much fruit, you could try using a blender on the fruit and some PGA, letting it masserate, then filter it. *shrug*, never done it before.

thanks for the link. im not too worried about local or state regs. where i live there really isnt much to worry about. im so far out in the boonies that i have not seen a cop or gov't official (local or otherwise) in over 4 years. lol. we pretty much do whatever we want.

YUMM. I love potato Vodka, w/ blueberries it must be fantastic.

Kinda off topic, but did you just infuse brandy w/ blueberries? I once made nectarine wine and found I could concentrate the alcohol by "cold Filtering", much like beer makers do to get higher alcohol. Made some really fine liqoure, and I had frozen wine coolers as a side benifit.

i dont know if blueberrie have a strong enough flavor for brandy. blueberry ale is easy though. buy a light ale that you like, mash up abunch of blueberries. drain the juice and add to taste. im too lazy to make it from scratch. as for the blackberry brandy. the recipe i use is my father inlaws. its just a matter of adding berries and sugar with brandy in a glass jar. shake it a few times a day for a week, the 1 time a week for 3 months. then you just strain out the berries. the longer you let it sit after taking out the berries the stronger the flavor gets. now that i think about it, im going to try this with the blueberries. i think ill just have to use 2 to 3 times the amount of berries and alittle more sugar. potato vodka with blueberries is very good! i like to mix it with sprite.
