Question for Hoogie (or any electronics expert)

Using the 5v regulator with control, if I wanted to add an LED, do I have to use a separate resistor, or could I just add the LED into hoogie's existing circuit, using the same resistor as the control pin, as in Fig 1?

Or would it be better to do it as in Fig 2? Or would I be better putting it in parallel with the atty (which I would rather avoid). Actually trying to avoid adding another resistor into the circuit at all.

So just so you know, I'm a hacker and no expert.

But I believe that adding the LED as in figure 1 would block the path to ground when there is no power applied so the device would float that pin high and be on all the time.

Figure 2, is not good. The led is in series to the power and the led can't handle that current.

I'd add the led in parallel to the output to the atty. I know another resistor but it's not all that bad..
