Question for Rebuilding 101

Still working to better my coils. I'm doing basic rebuild a la pbusardo - 8 wraps kanthal 28, cotton wick, comes out about 1.5 ohms, for a KFL+ on a Provari. I like to run about 3.7v. Occasionally, every four to five draws, I get a 'pop'. what causes this, and the fix please.

It's just the juice being heated by the coil. Mine does the same thing on my Magneto, my K100, and my MVP V2. Nothing to be worried about there. The chimney gets reduced so you don't get any "hot as magma" juice in your mouth, or at least it limits it. I wouldn't stress too much about it. If you feel the need to, try stepping down your voltage/wattage in small increments to see if you get less of a "popping" effect.

I seem to recall pbusardo saying that the popping was a "good" sound when you build a coil. I have it every so often in some RBAs, and some are always very quiet.

Nothing to worry about though.
