Question for you Canadians about $

I work for a company that sends a lot of mail from Canada. I do graphic work for promotions that give away prize money. There are dollar prize amounts listed in the promotion. I've always typed the dollar amount as CAD$1,234,567.00 with the "CAD" being in small caps. Is this correct? I work with another guy who types it as $1,234,567.00CAD. So which is correct?

I believe that "CAD" in all caps is the official designation for Canadian currency, just like USD for u.s. dollars, GBP for british pounds, etc. At least this is the case in the financial systems I work in.

Just pay the same dollar value in USD and no one will complain

CAD or USD beside the price, before or after, doesn't look very good (I should know I had it on my website LOL) you might just want to graphically incorporate the words "paid in Canadian funds"

According to Wikipedia's article on MLA style --- Wikipedia not always being the most reliable, but it's a start --- the correct format is "$333 (CAD)". The Bank of Canada uses "$333 CAD", as well as several other websites about format and style. Note that most of the formats I've found show a space between the number and the "CAD".

$ xxxx.xx (CAD) is the format I've always seen used, and makes more sense.
