I know one of the members here, we2rcool, uses Saline in one of his bases and the following is from another thread:

"We use a 'base' of 80% VG; 9% distilled water; 2% PGA; and 9% Sterile Saline (.9%) - for all of our juices (and for 'flavorless' vaping)."

I've tested 9% in the base before mixing and it seems to work really well. It doesn't really deliver a salty taste, but it does seem to help w/ enhancing the flavor and keeping moisture where it needs to be so you're not constantly drying your mouth out.

The discussion was in another thread, not specifically related, which is why I did a copy and paste :).

The above base is VG only, so the saline hydrates while the DW thins things out a bit since VG is so thick. Anything at or near 100% VG w/o a diluting agent is going to have a hard time wicking in most tanks, cartos etc, so that's why it's in there (not the only reason, but it's part of it).

If you're going to do a PG/VG base, then you'll need to reformulate the base to your liking. PG carries flavor better, VG produces more vapor so for me personally, I use a mix. I keep it close to 50/50 and I use about the same type of base. Mine consists of:

1% PGA
9% Saline (.9%)
40% PG
50% VG

I have used flavored Vodka in place of PGA, but only when I am 100% sure it's sugar-free in terms of no sugar added to the final product. For that, I recommend Absolut. In some places PGA cannot be sold (more so overseas, but some stores in the US don't sell it either). I do not use DW because the PG is less viscous than VG so it thins everything out for me as does the saline and PGA/Vodka.

Thanks to the OP for sharing this. I received 0.9% Sodium Chloride, USP, Baxter brand; and have complete my experimentation. Here's the recipe I'm now using for base:

80% vegetable glycerine, USP
15% water, distilled and de-ionized
5% 0.9% Sodium Chloride, USP

I made about ~250ml of this as premix. And then just add percentages of flavorings and nic base (in vg @ 50mg/ml) for recipes (i.e. KISS approach).

Our HVAC doesn't include humidifier and I was having some nasal dryness. This seemed to improve almost immediately. However, I don't add salt to any foods and a salty vape was readily apparent at 10% mix. I dropped to 4-5% (approx. since added to existing stock) and can no longer taste saltiness -- but still seem to have the benefits.

Thanks to all for the helpful info. I'm planning to use this as standard going forward. Perfect on mini PT -- if too thin for others, might try with H20 at 10% (or less).
