I am a interesting yet odd question when it comes to the center pin of the evo

View attachment 131973 here is the Chrome one i own, a you can see the center pin is pretty much dead center, and works the way it should which is more then fine for me {for sake of argument this is either version 2.3 or 3}

but

View attachment 131974 here is my brass one, and as you can see the center pin is pushed off to one side. If it came from the vendor like this i cannot tell you, but i have had it for about a month and from the day i got it, i have had one form of grief or another.

When i put a cart on the brass one, sometimes i get the white ring of death, and it is not until i remove the cart and let it sit on the brass evo loosely can i use it. Other carts i am fine to make sure they are snug and use it -- well correction i should say used to seeing as for the last week i have removed the batteries and put it on a shelf.

The reason for this thread is that does anyone thing that with the post moved all the way over like that, that it should not be used and putting it on the shelf was a good idea, or am i just getting a little too paranoid? I mean it does take stacked 16340's, but one thing i like about the brass one (possisbly version 4) is that when you go to change the batteries and were last using it say on the red setting, it does NOT reset itself and will remember the setting you put it on, so i kind of what to keep it.

I mean sure i paid $20 brand new for the mod only, and i could afford to tear open the head controller of the brass one for parts in case they are needed for the chrome one, i just cannot see me put it aside if it ~MAY~ still be useable you know?

I play things pretty fast and loose, but I would never use a connector like that.

Getting a center pin (that is properly centered) to make good contact is one thing, but with that side shifted one you will continually be shorting your unit.

Their ain't a whole lotta room there.

Seems you would have to quite lucky to not end up with a short.

Either fix it or trash it.

Thank you WillB, that is what i feared which was i was going to have to trash it, as that is the battery control head for the evo that i took a picture of. I know i can save the top cap, but after closer inspection of the bottom battery end, i did notice where the machined 'blast away' (or where the spring sits was pushed out a bit as well....I never dropped it in fact i had babied it a lot....So i have to wonder if it came from the vendor like this.....

Either way, this is the not the first time i am counting my blessing's with some faux pas for a e-cigarette, and i do count my blessings i found this when i did. I do have another silver one comming in and yes before i even but the batteries in it, i will be going over it with a fine toothed comb.
