question on usb passthough

Ok I have been reading on how to make these.. i keep seeing them posted with batteries either in the cable or in a housing that connects the atty..

the question i had was is the battery needed.. could one be made by simply running a usb cable straight to an on/off button then to the atty connector?

and another question.. where can I purchase the connector that the atty screws into locally so i do not have to order it and have it shipped?

is there any stores that would carry them like radio shack, or local hardware stores. since for me to order 1 of the connectors from there its going to run me almost $9 and a switch around 2$ so there is $11 would be cheaper for me to buy the thing

There's some atomizers that you can substitute various things for the battery-side connector, but the 510 isn't one of them so far as I know.

Heavens-gifts have started selling *some* modder supplies. They have a 5-pack of 510 connectors for $6. Don't know what the shipping would be, however.
