I have been researching for a while and really like the sound of the prodigy, but its not available now. I smoke about a 1 1/2 packs a day of full strength Menthol Doral. I really want to quit, but feel if it doesn't feel like smoking I will give up.. Many say the Prodigy feels like an analog, thats what I want. But I wonder if a 510 or a Protege would also do the trick in helping me quit util I can get a Prodigy.

Just curious if the 510 or some other ecig would work fine, or should I wait for prodigy's to come back out, does anyone know when they will be for sale again?

Does anyone find the prodigy too harsh for them? I doubt that could be a problem for me, I find non-menthol cigs or light cigs to feel like air, I can't smoke them, can't even smoke a light menthol.. I will suck it to death trying to get the full flavor menthol feeling.

So I want a device that will give me that right away
Thanks for any suggestions

High voltage is going to give you a hard hit. Some love it, and some don't. I prefer the more mellow hit of the 3.7 volt devices.

If you prefer the feel of a 510 with a fully charged battery, than the Protege will be perfect. The Protege runs on a 3.7 volt battery that will outlast the standard 510 battery by a mile. Everything is the same except the power source.

I have a JOYE 510 that works great but I wanted something that took normal rechargeable batteries I could get anywhere and stock up on cheaply.

I got the Janty Stick, which puts out tons of vapor and the Mint juice from Rocky Mountain Vapor, which gives a great throat hit and a strong menthol-like taste. It's just what the doctor ordered, so to speak! :D

(Oh...the Janty Stick vaped with its passthrough is terrific! So I carry one around, and have the passthrough one at my computer.)

Thanks for your help
I was looking at the janty, is the janty a 3.7 Volt? wasn't sure?
Saw good and bad reviews,
Since I can't get the Prodigy now, I am down to just getting a 510 or other smaller device, the Janty stick or the Protege

I think the Janty stick costs less, so I'm wondering what difference there is, in it and the protege.. other than the usb pass thru which sounds really nice, I'm always at a computer.

Jim what disapointed you about the Prodigy, I'm curious
sounds like you prefer the Protege

Again thank so much for all of your help

I have the prodigy, the protege, the 510 and the janty stick. The prodigy is big. I don't like the 5v as much as the 3.7. The 510's battery life is short and even with the pcc it is a pain. The janty stick is ok, but I LOVE my protege. I love the size of it...smaller...and the battery life is great. It lasts me about 6 hours compared to about 1-2 hrs for the 510.
Hope this helps! :)

Wow yea that helps alot, sounds like I need the protege, I can always get a prodigy and 510 later, just can't afford all at once.

Is there anyway to use the Protege with a passthru, I'm always at the computer, but I guess with a 6 hour battery life, what is the point..

Thanks so much for all the help

PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!

Link to order the Protege USB Pass-Thru. I've also got a Protege and I can say with confidence, after spending over $500 on various devices, you will NOT regret the decision. This is what I should have got in the first place. I couldn't see myself using any other mod (except maybe the new Prodigy v2 when it comes out :p)

BTW, in order to use the USB PT at it's full potential, you should look into using the 2A/5v USB adapter. Most PC's power supply will not provide more than .5 amps for a dumb USB device such as a pass-thru. You can pick up a very cheap dual port USB adapter using the link below for $3.95 shipped. Quality unit.

Wow Tyler
Thanks so much for all the great info, now I know I want the protege.
I was a little worried about the size being female, but it seems to just be longer than the janty stick, not as big as it looked on the site.
Besides I'm self employed, no one will see but family
But I think it may be smaller than I imagine it still.
What I really care about is a device that will work properly and not need a new battery every 2 hrs are you kidding.. I'm too lazy for that.

The janty stik concept is great with it charging a battery while you are using it, I do like this concept alot, very smart. I hear it has a light draw though... I'm assuming the Protege is a better draw, like the 510 since it is essentially a 510 with a better battery! Right?

But if I get the passthru to go with the protege then I have the best option sounds like to me.

I want to buy the right one that will help me quit these analogs, I don't want to play with batteries all day, etc This sounds like the absolute best option. And thank you for the info on the USB, I didn't know about that.
This helps a ton!
You guys are awesome on here
now I'm just crossing my fingers this will work for me, my family is already laughing at this idea of mine to stop smoking with e-cigarrettes.

I have never been able to quit in 20 years, I started at 16, so they think it will not work for me, or that I wont' be able to put down the analogs.

I need the best so I can prove them wrong :p

I have a 510 and like it. The batteries are a bit of a pest. I have to change them every hour or two.

You'll also need to refill your cart fairly often. I haven't seen any device that cures that problem. The PTB mod for the cart does help though.

I think the protege is basically a 510 with a better battery. A few vendors do sell a USB passthrough for the 510. That would fix the battery issues for me.

Your mom said not to say...
I have a 510, and a m401/Dragon. I prefer the taste of the m401/Dragon but the 510 also has a good throat hit and good vapor just a harsher taste. I also prefer the m401 because of the battery life lasting for many hours rather than the hour (maybe) with a 510.

I smoked heavily for 32 yrs and was able to stop the same day my m401/Dragon arrived so go ahead and let them laugh at you, I am pretty confident that you will get the last laugh in this matter if you stay with it. I even have my mother using a Dragon and I never thought for the life of me that she would get into these! It's good that you are interested and chances are you will end up with more than one model anyway so don't stress too much over what model to get. The 510, m401, 901, KR808D-1 are all nice choices and you can't go wrong. Some have better things than others but none is perfect.

I would say to get your family to make a ridiculous bet with you on your ability to go 2 weeks without a tobacco cigarette once your E-Cig arrives. If you have the success that I see 95% of us have you should win and get yourself a nice little treat from someone in the process, lol!
