Hello, I am looking to upgrade to a bigger, durable mod like the lavatube 2.5, and i am looking at the battery and battery charger. it says that the 18650 is a LiMN battery, but the charger says its capable, not compatible of charging Li-ion batteries like 18650 etc.

Another question: If it is compatible of charging LiMN batteries, will it stop charging when the battery is full to prevent overcharging? Please help i am confused:confused:

Battery
AW IMR High Drain 18650 Rechargeable LiMN Battery (2000 mAH)

Charger
XTAR WP2 II Multi-charger

Thanks

You can't go wrong with those combo. Very good battery and charger.

I take that, that it is compatible then lol. it says cut-off voltage, now does that mean itll prevent overcharging? Sorry for the noob questions but i have 2 ecig mods and their not that durable. one of the battery indicators always says low battery and the other one, the clearomizer leaked on me after a few days and the charger isn't working anymore. So i decided that i wanted to upgrade to something a little more expensive like the lavatube.

You are talking about two variations in lithium battery chemistry but both type have the same charging characteristics and use the same chargers. The Xtar is a very good charger.

I'm not sure what you are referring to here regarding cut-off voltage. Are you referring to a cut off the Lavatube provides to prevent the batteries from draining to an unsafe voltage? Or are you talking about some aspect of the charger design?

Ok i am confused now lol. i don't inderstand what the cut-off voltage means. i read on the specs that it has that but lets say i wanna charge the battery before i go to sleep, and i leave it in the charger overnight, will it stop charging the battery to prevent overcharging. Im sorry for the questions but i just don't wanna be disappointed anymore in the products i buy anymore. i would get a provari but thats kinda expensive right now and i just like the colors better on the lavatube.

The most basic rule about Li-On batteries is you don't want to drain them below 3.2 volts or charge them above 4.2 volts, because that is when bad things start to happen to Li-On battery chemistry.

The Xtars I use are rock solid about stopping a charge cycle when the battery hits 4.2 volts. Any charger designed for Li-On batteries is supposed to do that, not all of them do it well. There is a bit of hysterical paranoia going on about that, fixating on chargers, not leaving them unattended, putting them in a wall safe... If the charger is working as it is supposed to it stops the charge cycle when the battery hits 4.2 volts and discontinues providing any significant current to the battery. The Xtar does this.

If anything, you can be prudent and pull the batteries off the charger as soon as you realize the charge cycle is complete, but it's nothing to be obsessive about either. Once the WPII 2 status LED changes from red to green the charge cycle has stopped and it's not doing anything that can damage the battery if you leave it in there, even for several hours.

The up side of the charger you are getting is it will charge 18650 batteries in less than four hours. You may not be caught in many situations where you need to leave it on overnight anyway.

It means that it will cutoff the charge to the battery at 4.2V.

Yes, a good charger will stop charging when the battery reaches 4.2v, but things do not always work as they should. If at all possible, do not leave your batteries on a charger unattended--when you're away or asleep.
