Questions about battery type for making MODS

no, but they are big... the numbers indicate size in millimeters... first two are diameter, next 2 are length. 18650's are closer to the size of a roll of nickels than AA. 14500's are popular with modders because AA's are (about) that size, 14mm dia X 50mm.
Oh I thought that was just a model number. I guess that makes sense. I was going to try and make them fit in a AA type inclosure. The case is bigger then a standard case so I should have room for it. Well thank you maybe I should get some 14500 then just in case.
To elaborate on this,
There would not be any noticable difference between a 3.6v and 3.7v and some people make mods that go up to 5v or higher.
I have seen the 18650 batteries go for as long as 10 days with no charge, so they are good for some applications. Their biggest draw back is their size.
If you are looking to make something really portable, you might consider experimenting with cell phone batteries. You want to get something with at least 3.7v on up to 5v (most cell phone batt are 3.7) and as high Mah as possible. The Mah will determine how long the life will be on a charge, the higher the number the longer it lasts.
I have all my mods being build with mini usb ports on them for charging, which gives me some nice options on what I can use (any blackberry charger etc) Add that to something with a slim case and a cell phone battery and you have a nice mod that will be usable while you charge it and last at least a full day on a charge.
I will have some really nice wooden box mods available soon for anyone who is interested. They will all have the 18650 battery (2400 mah) and a mini usb charging port. Can be made to fit 510 or 808 depending on what you like. For now all will be 808.

The batteries I picked up were 3000mah protected type. I thought they were the same size as AA. Oh well know I will have a reason to make a custom enclosure. I am going to use 510 atty's on this battery. Should I go with a LR or will the regular 510 atty's work ok. I like to tinker with things and customize so I dont think the size of the battery is going to screw me up too bad. i also have a few old cell phones lying around that I could tinker with. I think I might go ahead and go that route. I am waiting to get my new Joye set before I start tearing apart my crappy NLA battery for parts. It works in a bind and long enough for my other 510 to charge but I need something that lasts longer. I was a pack and a half day smoker and these 510's dont seem to keep up.

Good here you are using protected batterys, never use a non protected battery when building our using a Mod.

I saw there were modder pages but I dont hae enough posts to accesss those threads yet being a newbie to the forum and the vaping world. Now that you mentioned the cell phone batteries that gives me all sorts of new and fun ideas. I got about 6 differnet old cell phones that dont do anything but take up space. Are all cell phone batteries protected?!? I would really not want to blow up a battery in my face when I am trying ot vape.
Proper battery's is the biggest consideration when building a mod. If you post around the newcomers thread ask a few questions say Hi to a few people you will have enough posts to start posting in the mod area. It wont take long to get the post count you need to leave the newcomers area.
