Hi everyone. I'm not new to vaping, but new to this forum! Here's my situation: I like to be able to control the air flow of my cartomizers. And of course I like vapor, throat hit and a moderate amount of heat--all with good flavor. Currently I use the adjustable ones from SMOKtech but after a few weeks they just seem to stop performing like they did when they were new. Yes, I change the coil!

I finally decided to upgrade and after reading as much as I could stand, opted for the
Aspire nautilus with 1.8 BVC coil. The results are terrible and I have changed out the coil already just to see if that was the problem. Lots of vapor but almost NO taste and no throat hit. Thinking it was my funky ego battery, I borrowed my sister's high tech stuff--variable wattage, variable voltage. The only one that helped improve the situation was the variable wattage Leaf set at 7.5.

Does the nautilus take a long time to break in? Do I need to get a higher wattage device in order to satisfactorily use the Nautilus? I've weaned myself down to 6ml nicotine--pg/Vg blend (not sure of the %). Wondering if that could be the problem?

So I guess the bottom line is are there better airflow-control clearomizers on the market? I'm looking at the genitank. Any other ideas? Thanks.

After a few days vaping I started on a Nautilus mini. I stopped using it because I wanted to rebuilld. I started a brother of mine vaping on an N mini 2 years ago. He still uses it and won't consider anything else. I ran mine at 10 watts. My brother still does the same. Plenty of people are using them long term. If you can stay a low watts vaper that's a good thing.

That's the conclusion I'm getting to--a vv/vw mod. Any suggestions?

I would recommend a Provari Classic from Provape. They have one on thier specials page for $65 and you will need batteries and a charger. Provape makes a top notch product and they are built to last. It will run circle around an ego.

Welcome and glad you joined. 1.8 ohms is a good safe flavor coil set-up. I use vw only to pull as much flavor from the juice I can possible obtain. When starting my vape at low wattage, I find that the wattage that works for me is usually a few tenths of watts over the lowest watt setting (where i can barely see the vape cloud on the exhale). Lower watt settings lessen the chance of burning the liquid and generates the best flavor IMO.
"variable wattage Leaf set at 7.5." may be a little high.

There are a crap ton of vv/vw mods on the market that would suit your needs... and an expansive array of price points.

Nautilus is pretty old as far as vape gear goes. I'm not saying its bad, but they have made quite a bit of improvements since its release. If it works for you, great! but you have other options. I've been happy with my Cubis Pro. People around here seem to like the Big Beast, though i have no experience with that one. Either of those is going to need a VW mod to go with it.
The Reuleaux seems to be a popular mod (there are several versions, poke around ECF for some reviews). eLeaf Pico and iStick 40 seem to get good reviews for smaller mods, but i'm sure there's more recent stuff there too.

It's marketed as "Starter Gear" but I've had a pretty good experience with this AIO with the recommended 0.6ohm coil. It's about $20 and comes with everything you need except juice. A 5 pack of heads runs around $10 online.

I'm pretty sure everything i've mentioned has a glass tank, so no petro worries.

I'm not trying to promote a certain kind of vaping, just trying to pass along some information :)

Happy Vaping!

Hi Patricia
I wouldn't recommend the Cloud Beast tank to you as it is about a million miles away from what you've been using. It is a low resistance tank requiring a lot of power and gives a ton of vapor. You are way down at the other end of the scale with high resistance low power with a 1.8 ohm coil and 7.5 watts.

I think you should describe what you like about the units you've been using, what mod you've got, whether you prefer and want to stick with MTL (mouth to lung) vaping. Also what you didn't like about the Nautilus. The more info you provide the more it will help folks better recommend stuff to you.
