Interesting, thank you for that link. I have only spent a few minutes on that site and while I cant find any of those three chemicals mentioned I see things like "artificial flavors" mentioned under the ingredients list. Wouldn't diketones be considered an artificial flavor? either way Im having a hard time coming to a conclusion to my question.
Edit: so to me it would appear that some of there vanilla flavors contain Acetoin and Acetylpropionyl. Since Im not directly using their flavors but Im using a juice company that uses them as flavors should I just stay away from said company's ejuice that contains vanilla?

This is a example from the TFA site. only as a reference for the topic at hand.
It would seem they list the Big D as it relates to each flavor. And they have a side reference also explaining a lot about the additive and its brothers chemically speaking. They are very open about it.

Diacetyl is actually a completely natural ingredient, just one reason why "organic" flavors aren't necessarily a good idea -- mother nature doesn't have an FDA.

ETA: their Vanilla Swirl is the diketone-free version of their Vanilla Custard -- and it's excellent!

Diacetyl is the worst, and I don't think it's in ANY of TFA's flavors. I believe the next worst is probably AP, since it can apparently give rise to diacetyl under some conditions. Not sure about acetoin, but I've heard it's best to avoid, if you wish to avoid diketones.

Cant really say for sure, but given they are as open as they are. I would surmise that if it is used or present in the flavor it will be listed. better yet if you are really concerned give them a call. I do believe if My memory had not failed, They disclaim on the site that the flavors as with anyone else are not specifically made to vape.

Well its hard to come to a conclusion about how safe the juices from a certain juice company are since Its unkown what exact flavors from TFA they use but from my lack of knowledge and what I have learned I would assume TFA flavors are among the safer flavorings out there. it just seems like a lack of knowledge is a bad place to be drawing conclusions from.

Alright I still have one big question. that is what do they mean by "artificial flavors" when listed as an ingredient? Like I mentioned wouldn't diketones be considered "artificial flavors"?

NO. As I said, diacetyl is a naturally-occurring ingredient in many foods. It's perfectly safe to eat, but may not be, to inhale in any quantity over any lengthy span of time.

The way things are coming and going on the "bad stuff" front, I think the only choice right now is to vape unflavored. I personally am not willing to do that just yet. With the "war on vaping" in full swing, it's very tough to weed out the truth from the outright BS.

If vaping unflavored was really the only choice, I'd go back to smoking. At least it would taste like something. But I'll stick with using 30% flavoring, thanks. It's safer than smoking.
