First, please excuse me. I'm sure the answer to every question I'm going to ask has been covered many, many times and I've probably overlooked the answers but tbh I'm somewhat overwhelmed here. A response of "read the stickies" and flames are warranted I'd guess.

The best place to start is probably where I'm at now vaping wise and get some advice about how to go about dipping my toe in Reoville. I'm exclusively using either DNA30 devices or a Provari. I have 3x KFL+, 1 Taifun GT, a Russian, a Magma and a Trident V2 so the idea of building coils and wicking atty's doesn't give me the heebie jeebies. RBA's I generally run at 1.0-1.4 ohms and around 15W. On my drippers I run dual coils at .5 ohms and 25-27W. I love the flavor and vapor production I get from my drippers but, imo, they're not very portable so I'd guess I'm like a lot of folks that use drippers. I drip at home and use RBA's when I'm at work or out and about.

I'm intrigued with Reo's because, if I understand correctly, I can get the vapor and flavor that I associate with drippers without dealing with leaks.

All that said, here's my questions.

  1. Can I expect the same flavor and vapor production potential out of a Reo as I'd get with a dual coil dripper at 25W?
  2. Which model Reo and bottom fed atty would you recommend given that it's not uncommon for me to go through 6+ml of juice and 2x fully charged 18650's a day.
  3. If I found the vape too warm/cool can I sub ohm or single coil?
  4. What would I need to buy in addition to a Reo and the atty to sub ohm or run a higher resistance single coil?

What I THINK I need/would buy to start off with would be a Reo Grand LP, an RM2 and some accessories to customize it a little for me. What I don't see, on the Reo web page, is anything that'd allow me to modify it if I wanted to sub ohm if I decided I wanted a warmer vape.

I'm sure as a click submit some other things will come to mind but I guess this is a good start.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

The Reo is already set up with new contacts, spring and switch for sub-ohm operation. I am running a .55Ω single on my rm2, and it hits like a rock. RM2's are made for single coil operation. Getting the LP Reo will enable you to use other RBAs that are either bottom fed already, but hard to find, or modify one yourself. There are lots of resources here to help with that. Oh, by the way, I also use either an AW IMR 18650 or a Sony VTC5 in mine and I can go all day. I'm sure there will be a lot more chiming in here pretty quickly.

Sorry you have the wrong forum we don't do that here.

I think you'll find the same if not better vaper.
  2. Which model Reo and bottom fed atty would you recommend given that it's not uncommon for me to go through 6+ml of juice and 2x fully charged 18650's a day.

I would say go with the LP Reo Grand Make sure you go with the LP RM2 also.
  3. If I found the vape too warm/cool can I sub ohm or single coil?

The wonderful thing about a Reo Grand is you can fine tune it to make your own beast vape or mellow vape.
  4. What would I need to buy in addition to a Reo and the atty to sub ohm or run a higher resistance single coil?

    In a word nothing

Everything is included you can go as high or low as you feel the need.

LP Reo Grand, LP RM2, a couple of RM2 screws because they are easy to misplace, a spring or two in case of a spring collapse. After that it's up to you on other wants.

All you need is a LP Grand of your choice and a few drill bits. You already have batteries and great atties. Research some of the modding threads (BF. Experiment comes to mind) and have at it. If you are looking to do sub ohming without modding the rm2 will not be a friendly platform. Very hot, low air flow. The BF experiment thread will be a good read for you. Personally I would love to mod a Magma for BF. Welcome to the herd.

And to the first person to tell this guy to use the search feature: May you be bludgeoned with a pillow case of Provari's.

Forgot to mention my current daily driver is a SL/LP with an Atomic (modded) clone at .45ohms. I also had 5 Prorari's; they now act as the axle for my toilet paper holder. Got to recycle in one four!

Damn that LP is calling me! That's the exact setup I want the setup chowderhead. Why must you toy with me? The wife will have my head on a stick. Glad I don't need a TP holder.

The LP means "low profile" and it means that the dripwell is milled down so you can use a lot more atties on it. If you run dual coils you can modify easily enough a few to use on it. I use an igo-w4 on mine. The basic technique depending on your skill, access to tools and so on, is to either drill thru the positive centre pin, or dremel a channel in it.

For daily use i use a RM2 with single coil @ 0.5-6Ω. A RM2 is not ideal for dual coils unless you drill more holes in it. In short - it's easier to use other things. So at weekends i run duals at about 0.3Ω, since i don't care about juice and batteries and at work i use the above.

I run Reo Grands because they come ready to sub-ohm now, and 6ml on board. Use with a good 18650 battery and it's game over.

Answer the call! Did I mention the Provari is the gold Zencoat version? Do it, thank me later. If you want I will mod another Atomic for you at no charge if it will get you over the fence. Do it.

That goes double for you HumbleTex as well.

Chowderhead72 is pretty talented at modding TF so I'd take him up on it if I were you.

Thanks for all the help folks. Going to pull the Trigger on an LP Grand and a Cyclone this morning. Based on the responses I've read it sounds like I have pretty much everything else except maybe a spare Magma. :)

I'll look around for threads about modding other RDA's for use on the REO and see what drill size people are using. Just so happens I have access to a lot of manual and CNC equipment so it shouldn't be a big deal to mod one.

This is probably a silly question and I'm just not thinking it through but how much of the 6ml bottle is actually usable when you're sqonking? I keep staring at pictures and I figure that at some point there's so little juice left in the bottle that you'd have to squeeze the heck out of it to get it to feed.

Am I missing something or is the usable amount of juice somewhere around 3-4ml? Don't get me wrong, whatever it is it's better than carrying around a bottle of juice and dripping 5-6 drops at a time.

I always refill long before I run dry but if the amount the bottle holds is 6 ml, I prolly start with .5 ml airspace at the top and if I am really trying to stretch it, vape it down to .5 to .75 ml. I've only gotten below that once and it was a long time ago on a mini that I underestimated how long half the 3ml bottle would last :)

I mostly refill mine when it's about 1/4 full.

Hey Humble,

I hope your answers were taken care of... but here a picture of one of my Reo's ran the way I think you would like to run yours.

43GO1eJ.jpg

That is a Mini LP and a TOBH clone sitting right above it. I did very minor mods to the TOBH to make it BF. I actually have an Igo-W that I did even less mods on to make it BF. And, I have DNA30's, Raptors, OKR's, Authentic's and blah blah blah... All at home.

But I keep my three Reo's with me at all time.

Welcome to the Reonauts, buddy. ;)

Reo and the Cyclone arrived today. The Reo was dead solid and simple.

The Cyclone .. not so much. Finally got the top cap off to be confronted with the smallest allen heads I've ever seen and that's saying something. Got my coil built and wicked without a problem but the airflow on the Cyclone is so tight it made my ears pop. Handy to have on a plane but not so great for vaping.

I know I can track done an AFC top cap, or try anyway, but is there a reason to do that instead of just drilling out the air hole somewhat?
