Hey guys. I just ordered an Anyvape CVI V2 mod after I had having 2 1000mAh Ego-C batteries just quit working on me last night. No idea what happened. Just all of a sudden both of them wouldnt fire and wouldnt charge. So I decided to finally go with a mod. Its my 1st one so I'm unclear on a few things. Now I watched the review on this mod by Phil Busardo so i have a good idea on how to use it. What Im unclear on is the difference from being in the mode that displays watts to the mode that displays voltage. Im not really sure how thats relevant. I mean is it basically just two different ways to say the same thing? So if i set it to 4 volts for w/e tank I'm using how would I know when/if to switch to or use a watt setting. Or are these 2 individual settings that I will need to set independently and they work together?

Also, any other tips anyone may have on using and maintaining a mod or has any recommendations on what combination of resistance and voltage gives a really nice vape or any tanks that they might recommend. It would be really appreciated. Thanx guys.

Here's a link pertaining to the Vamo, but what is discussed is applicable to any VV/VW device such as your new CVI-2.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vamo/380976-vamo-voltage-vs-watts-setting.html

So it looks like you use either or then. So in that case what does vaping at a higher/lower watt do for you? And will my device (in theory) auto-detect the resistance of my tank and adjust accordingly? If so that just leaves the above question of what wattage is optimal? I'm just asking these nubish questions to make sure that I dont ruin my new MOD or a tank when I get it.

Adjusting wattage up & down is doing the exact same thing that adjusting the voltage up or down would do. The device will just do all of the legwork when it comes to changing out delivery systems of differing resistances. A coil will also adjust resistance a little bit when in use, so the variable wattage mode should give a bit more consistency as it will adjust to these minor changes.

As for optimal wattage, that is going to be personal. I like vaping cartos around 8.5w yet I'll use my genesis up around 10w. Best to start lower & work up until you find the vape you like.

So it seems as if the general opinion is to use watts instead of volts with your mod. I feel a lot more confident about it now thank you. As for me I have a few things I'll be using on my mod. I have a few kangar T3s and vivi nova's. I have two 2.8 ohm heads and four 2.4 ohm heads for the novas but im not sure what resistance the T3s are. Anyone have an recommendations as far as those are concerned?

Wattage & voltage modes have their own pros/cons. But as for convenience I'd say wattage would take the cake (especially if switching delivery systems often). Voltage can be adjusted in .1 increments whereas I think most wattage modes adjust by .5 increments.

If I'm not mistaken the CVI v2 can check resistance so you'll be able to find out what the T3's are. But with wattage mode it wouldn't matter, just set it to a level and vape the device does all the math & stepping up/down.

Thanks for all of your help but I do have just one more question. If using watts will cause my device to adjust to the resistance of my delivery system... What are the dangers of setting your wattage up too high? Regardless of the adjustments the device makes will it still have the same effects as using too high a voltage on a tank/cart and cause to burn out or create a burnt taste, essentially ruining it?

Hey bob I'm real close to ordering a cvi and definitely would like to hear what you think of it if you've got it. It won't change the resistance
It will adjust your volts to equal the watts selected. Same wattage no matter what ohm coil
..Yes To an extent it will overload a device if watts are to high for say a 1.5 ohm carto.

Ok guys been vaping on this mod for a couple of days and so far it's amazing! Now this is my 1st mod so im not sure how it compares to other mods but compared to the eGo batteries that I'm used to this thing is a dream. The menu is pretty easy to navigate although I had to look up the video review by BPusardo on youtube because it doesnt come with instructions. I ordered my kit with the green model, 2 1800mAh batteries and the charger. Altogether cost me $71.

The battery life when vaping it at 6watts has been approx a day and a half with as much as I vape. I pretty much chain vape all day because I'm a stay at home dad and am in front of my computer a lot. I switch on and off using a vivi nova @ 2.4 ohms and a kangar mt3 at w/e the resistance is for that. 6 watts has worked plenty fine and has been my "sweet spot". Unfortunately due to my mettlesome son... It has been dropped once. The mod itself is fine and has no obvious cosmetic damage and it was dropped hard enough that the tank on my vivi nova that was on it cracked open at about a 85 degree angle. The ONLY problem i have had with this mod was last night when switching from a mt3 back to a nova it would only show me the resistance of the nova rather than fire it. Im not sure if i did something to make that happen or if it was a glitch but i took the battery out and put it back in and it was fine.

Its great that this thing is ego threaded so it takes t3 and anything you can put on an ego. But make sure you place a finger on the top "cone" part when taking your tank off as the twisting motion can cause you to unscrew the battery end connector from the control unit part. The first time i took a t3 off of it, i ended up unscrewing that part and had to place the wire back in and screw it back on and it made me feel like i could end up twisting wire too tight. But i just get paranoid when i spend that much money on something like that. That being said I havent felt that keeping my finger on there to keep it from unscrewing is a problem or an annoyance.

Overall even though this is the 1st mod ive ever used I think its fantastic. Its well worth the money compared to the other ones ive seen and it looks great. Its super lightweight but doesnt feel cheap. The menu is nice too but the bottom line is. Ive never had so much battery life or got so much vapor out of my tanks. I get on my wifes nerves when I'm like "Hey check this cloud out!" lol.

If you havent already and you are thinking about making this your next mod. I would definitely buy it.

Happy vaping.

Update...

Today mod has stopped working properly. It either wont fire, reverts to factory setting, wont access the menu or all of the above. Ive tried cleaning the battery connectors and using a different battery. I have no idea what is going on with this thing. Ive sent an email to myvaporstore.com where i bought it but im seriously considering just returning it and getting one that a little better made.

Yeah it doesnt look good. The wire is losing contact. It doesnt work at all now. The design is kinda cheap IMO I'm just going to get a refund or get it replaced. We'll see what myvaporstore has to say on monday i guess. In the meantime I just ordered a Vision VAMO. It seemed to get better reviews and is a couple of bucks cheaper.

Also after looking into it, it is NOT the CVI V2. Its the version 1 and myvaporstore is still selling them despite that I've read there was a recall on them due to a defect in the motherboard.

The CVI is really a DIY mod. I have 3 of them and all have had issues since I got them. Top spring on the board on one is now broken off and I need to try to soldier it back on which should be a real treat. If you like to repair stuff this is a great mod but if you like to buy things that just work like they should you should RUN away from the CVI/DIY. I have 3 vamo's and have yet to have to do any repairs after the correct spring was installed. The Black/Chrome finish is coming off one of them but the pv still works great.

Yeah I read that the Vamo gunmetal and chrome versions have a finish that wears off. I got a stainless one and so far no issues with it and I'm holding it almost costantly. I returned the CVI to myvaporstore and asked them if they would just send me another Vamo V2 instead and they said that they would do that for me ^_^ Great online store IMO and the Vamo is just awesome. Sure theres prettier things out there. But Like you said. It just works. I'll tell what also, I like the +/- buttons on it rather than having a 1 button menu system. Much much more convenient.

I just started having this issue. How do I fix it? I do know how to solder and have supplies - but before I got all into this thing I wanted to ask!

What I did - Emailed Myvaporstore.com (thats where i got mine) and i sent it back to them and instead of a refund i asked for a Vamo V2 and they sent me one. Been Using a Vamo ever since (i have 2) and have not had a single problem.

So what I would do in your shoes is exactly what I did, go with a better made mod. The Vamo is actually cheaper than the CVI

I have a vamo, I picked this one up for my other half from another vapor super inexpensive so he can learn on something that I wont cry if he destroys. However, I am the jerk that screwed it up oddly enough LOL. Short story - I was testing it out and my iclear30 was apparently on extra good and I had already noticed the menu was a little wonky and when I went to remove the i30 it slightly unscrewed the top cap and I saw the wire is not so attached (by a literal hair) - so before I get him started I was debating since I can solder if I should just attack it or if I should let it go and get an evic head and give him my vamo LOL. I really dont want to give him my vamo - so I am thinking I cant make it worse by fixing the solder- but I usually solder jewelry not electronics...so I am just nervous about it. I could also get an evic easy head for it for him too....meh.

Yeah if you wanna fix it, soldering would be pretty easy. Alls ya gotta do is solder the wires back to the contact : )
