If it's the tastebuds, it doesn't matter one bit whether you can't taste anything from cartos or 3-parters.
Besides, as neat as 510 cartos would have been - they too burn their filling. Yummy!

No burning yet...and I'll take my chances over juice in my mouth, accidentally getting a dry atty hit that taste like melted plastic/chemicals, constantly dripping and refilling. :)

I try to only vape, but just can't do it yet. Guess after 40+ years, it's going to be harder to do.

While those people who stopped smoking on Day One are somewhat more likely to tell their tale (to put that mildly), a lot of people needed more time: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/80124-how-long-did-take-you-stop-smoking.html
If after a few weeks you still can't leave off those analogs, do head over to the smokeless section of the forum, you might need more than just nicotine from tobacco. But that's a minority, around 20%, much more likely that you just need more time.
And don't count the ones you still smoke - count the ones you don't smoke any more.

To each their own, but I'd never had juice in my mouth (and with cartos, more condensed water with traces of juice than with carts), and when I hit a dry atty, I just stop and refill. Long before it tastes like melted anything. And even if it tasted like that - at least I'd get a warning. Those cartos burn up and let you inhale burned plastic without any warning.
Not to mention that they might need less refilling - but each refill is a lot more of a hassle.

But to each their own. For those who miss inhaling questionable stuff, KR8s and now 510 cartos are just the ticket.

Judy - dont worry about still smoking - I mean really jsut stop worrying about how many you're smoking and think about how many you're NOT smoking.
I didn't buy my 510 with any (and I mean ANY) intention to quit smoking.
I like smoking.
I just didn't like most of the cigarettes I consumed. Most of them tasted nasty and left my mouth feeling horrible. I had a cough, I felt stuffed up all the time and ill like I had a cold (even when I didn't). I just wanted to stop smoking the 'filler cigs' and only have the 'nice ones' - about 5 or so that I really enjoyed.
Drop your expectations and just enjoy what you're doing. I promise you that once you find your feet with your PV things will fall into place for YOU. By that I mean, you may never give up smoking, you may always have a few a day and that's ok. If thats right for YOU then its right. But once you get a good vaping routine you may find, as I did, that vaping is jsut MORE enjoyable than smoking ever was. It tastes better, it doesn't make me cough, and I dont feel all stuffed up and ill like before.
Remember I was NOT going to to quit - it just happened.

Edit: Oh and juice in the mouth - try blowing the cart out when you remove and claen the filler material. I get that even with dripping, (which is using no filler but the end cap thing becomes a mouthpiece) I think its condensed vapor + flavorings that collect inside the little cap - blowing it out works wonders :)

The refilling is no hassle at all, actually. It's quick, easy and even if it wasn't, the time between refills would still make it all worth while. :) You do it your way and I'll do it mine and we'll both be happy, how's that work for you?

CaptJay, I'm still working at it. And am taking your advice. Counting the ones I don't smoke. Went to the mall yesterday, and talked to the guy that I bought my Smoking Everywhere. He is great. He's heard a lot of good things about the 510. He tried mine again and it still made him cough. He thinks it's something with the atomizer. He worked with it and got it going very good. But he would still cough. Said he would like to sell these, but can't because of the coughing. So it's not just me. Whew!
Last night, I used it exclusively, and I didn't cough at all. Was nice.
He suggested using VG. I need to order juice but don't know what to do.
I have another atomizer, but dread trying that one because it has to be "primed" and has that nasty taste. I'm thinking, even after a week using the first atomizer, that it still has that junk on it. I have blown out end of it, but nothing comes out. So I guess it's clean. He even put in another "wick" and after he coughed for quite awhile, it did get better. I'm using 18mg. Seems stronger than my regular cigs.
Oh well, I'll keep working on this. Thanks again for your reply. Appreciate it.

I'm rather worried about those burn holes, I have to say. I don't care if people have a different taste than I have, or I'd be very busy. But I do care if people get told to try this great thing that let's them inhaled burned plastic.
Particularly since the makers of the 510 cartos really should have known about that problem and they could have just avoided it.

Is there a post that I missed about the 510 cartomizers burning? I haven't read anything about that. Can you link to that information, please?

the design difference is that the filler is in direct contact with the atomizer. If the filler gets dry (and some say even if it doesn't) it will start to brown and "burn" not with actual flame and smoke but if you follow the thread below or search using the search forums tool in the upper right menu you will find a lot of "hot" controversy about just how safe cartomizers are.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...s-e9-vk-bloog-totem-808-dpv9-smoke51-etc.html

I took one apart and it was discolored but not burnt.

That said i like the cartomizer experience-esp at work where i don't want to look like a mad scientist/drug addict etc with lots of bottles, tweezers and carts about,

I have a 510 to KR808 adapter and also have ordered some blank 510s but haven't felt they filled well. been too busy to experiment much but the condom method seems inadequate, where are you getting 510 cartomizers?

The KR808s vary in quality. the first set i bought were flavorless and seemed almost dry on purchase didn't refill well and only refilled about 3 times before fading.

now I have some good ones (cappuccino flavor 24 mg) and they are tasty and long lasting --haven't refilled--some chocolate--so so 11 mg mediocre last 3-4 hours.

still looking for the perfect vape but i have only purchased two packs of analogs in two months of vaping.

Thanks for linking that for me. :) I'm going to rip this thing apart and see what's going on inside it.

OK, I tore it apart. Getting the cap off is no friggin' joke! There was indeed a hot spot in it. It was a tiny little spot, but it was there. :( I'm going to go cry now. I did use it for three days (of course refilling it and keeping it wet) so I don't know if it was just over used or if it happened on day one...and there's no way to know. This makes me so sad. :(

And there was me, so sure I had already posted that link in a thread where you wrote

I think it doesn't really matter whether it's been overused or happened on day one - problem is, it can happen during regular use, and as long as those things are refilled (and particularly when vendors offer juice to refill) they are going to be used like this, and it should not happen but does. Even if it only happend when they get refilled - and if experience from the KR8 is anything to go by (which is hardly unlikely), then it will happen with fresh ones as well - it would be like making a car where the brakes fail a lot when you drive too fast. I don't think this would be a very popular car.

The most annoying thing is that this is preventable; all it needs is a filler which can withstand higher temperatures. But that might drive up costs a few cent, so it seems an audacity to ask for it. :-x
