Hello call,

Can you guys help a noob with some questions below?

1) I use the calculator on here, aiming for 50/50 PG/VG, yet it is quite harsh for my throat compare to MTBaker that I bought, What am I doing wrong?

2) I am making 4 flavors, Guava, Cantaloupe, strawberry, and pomergranate. I started out with 5%, then crank up to 10%. I can't get any flavor at all even at 10%. What am I doing wrong?

3) My juices are not as sweet as the juice I bought, do I need to add sweetener?

4) I shake, then leave open bottle in the dark for 24 hrs before vape, is this too short for steeping?

Thank you so much for all your help and advice,
Andy

Don't know, not enough information. I don't know where you obtained your PG and VG from, nor what you used to measure.

Lorann's is on the weak side for most of their flavorings. You've tried a couple different flavoring levels, seems like it's time to try more.

3) My juices are not as sweet as the juice I bought, do I need to add sweetener?

No flavor, but it should taste sweet too? Yes, if you want flavorless sweet juice, you need sweetener. Might go for a vape that has flavor before deciding if you need to sweeten it if you want flavor.

4) I shake, then leave open bottle in the dark for 24 hrs before vape, is this too short for steeping?

An open bottle isn't steeping, that's airing-out or letting a juice Breathe. What was the taste like that you wanted to let some flavoring notes evaporate? Or were you just looking to kick start nicotine oxidation? Steeping is a closed bottle and the only way to know if it's long enough is to taste it before and at intervals during the steep. Many times steeping doesn't do anything.

Thank you so much for your reply Hoosier,

1) I got my PG and VG from wizard labs, and I use the syringes I bought from them for the exact measurement from the excel ejuice calculator from this forum.

2) I will make more batches with increase % of flavor

3) I will keep in mind, stay with flavor first. First time DIY, so I am a bit clueless :(

4) I always thought open cap store in the dark is steeping. When I let the flavoring notes evaporate, it taste very dull, almost no flavor. What is your recommendation Hoosier? Just shake, then store in dark overnight with cap close, and test, then repeat until I get the flavorful that I am looking for?

Again, thank you so much for your reply,
Andy

Just shake and vape. See if it's close. If it isn't close add more flavoring, keep notes on how much you added, shake and vape...repeat as needed. Once you get close, then seal the bottle and keep it out of sunlight to see if steeping does anything different.

(You can add up all the flavoring from your notes and figure out what volume of flavoring is compared to total volume so you can figure out the flavoring %.)

There are a couple of nutcases who have blogged here on ECF about DIY. Might see if you can find those jokers' blogs. They go by the names dannyv45 and Hoosier.
