Questions regarding voltage and wattage output in VV/VW mods

I'll keep this simple, how are VV/VW mods able to output a 6 volts while the battery inside (fully charged) is said to be producing a maximum of 4.2 volts? I feel like I must have misconstrued some information about VV/VW mods. I apologize if this question has been answered a hundred times, i obviously couldn't find the answer. One last off topic question: My Sony VTC4 button top battery came in today and it came with a white papery disk stuck around the button tip. Am I supposed to remove it? It seems like a minuscule issue but with all the battery safety people talk about it doesnt seem like a far fetched inquiry:laugh:. Thanks in advance vapers!

VV/VW mods (APVs) have a boost circuit that can raise the device output voltage higher than the battery voltage. But there's more... they have voltage regulation that will maintain the higher output voltage (or wattage in the case of VW) at a constant value while the battery voltage falls with use.

I don't have any Sony batteries but I'll bet they work better with the paper removed. It's probably there to keep the battery from short circuiting during shipment.
