Hi all. I'm confused. If on a nicotine base liquid (52 mg) says it is composed of 50% PG, 40% VG and 10% water - where is the nicotine percentage? It should be 5,20%, no?

I suppose it does not matter if we are DYI-ing to obtain the same proportion of pg-vg-water. But if we want instead the final result to be, say 30% pg, 70%vg and 5% water and 13mg nicotine, then it would be very useful to know the precise proportions of each in the original liquid.

Thanks.

Merry Christmas and good vapes to all!

Percentage of nicotine does not matter in this case. What matters is the NIC mg. In a juice calculator such as the E-juice me up calculator it would be best to treat the premixed base as 50PG/50VG/52mg and leave the water at 0 as you already have water added. Then input your final mix down PG/VG/NIC_MG. If additional water was needed to compensate for any additional VG added then it would be the percent minus the already added percent. It's very difficult to calculate the amount of additional water needed and this is why it's best when ordering a custom mixed base to leave the water out of it and add it yourself during the final mix down. The best I can advice here is take the total amount of additional VG added and figure the water percentage based on the additional VG amount. So lets say you added 10ml additional VG then you would want to add 1ml water which would add up to 10% water.

Nicotine isn't a liquid like you're thinking of it. You have 52mg/ml which is such a small percentage of the total volume it is silly to worry about it unless your usual ratio have multiple digits after the decimal.

And 52mg/ml is about 5.20% nicotine, but what is that used for in PG/VG/Water/Alcohol ratio? It's neither PG, VG, Water, or Alcohol. If you want to get that precise then you're going to have to worry about the solids and other chemicals in your flavoring too so your ratios would be 20/30/10/5/2/1/1/1/1/1/4/1...kind of things and you'd be the only one tracking all those different divisions.

Since you have 52mg/ml nicotine solution, you can easily calculate the amount of 52mg/ml needed to create 13mg/ml liquid. We know that 10ml of 13mg/ml has 130mg's of nicotine so of that 10ml, 2.5ml of it will be 52mg/ml. (2.5ml * 52mg/ml = 130mg) The rest of the quantities of liquid depend on what PG/VG/Water/Alcohol you want.

Merry Christmas!

This calculator will allow you to enter your 52mg 50/40 base nicotine and when creating your recipe it will tell you your precise proportions of mg, PG and VG in your final recipe. Using your values reflected in the attached picture, you can only get a recipe of 30% PG and 67.5% VG. The 10% of water in your nicotine base makes up the other 2.5% in your final recipe (30 + 67.5 + 2.5 = 100). For this example I assumed you were going to add 10% flavor which is 100% PG.
