i've been making good progress on these forums - reading as much as i can (it's a ....load - never expected the e-cig landscape to be so vast).

just as i was getting my 'e-liquids to try' list started i decided to check out the "Health, Safety and E-Smoking" sub-forum. the articles on the safety of vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol have totally dampened my e-cig excitement. the pharmacology stuff is way out of my league, but the general feeling i get is that there is no sufficient evidence either way and that it's a well-educated gamble to choose electronic over analogue.

could someone unparalyze me here? i dunno, maybe a video of some sekzi celebrity vaping. or an illegitimate paper on the subject.

Propylene Glycol has been used in various inhalents for over 50 years. We know that it safe to inhale. Vegtable Glycerin isnt quite as conclusive, but I believe there some paper somewhere that shows when it is heated to the tempatures atties use it turns into something like 80% water anyway. Bout all I got.

A thoracic surgeon said PG is used for inhalation therapy in hospitals, even for lung transplant patients.

There is PG in cigarettes too. It is a humectant for tobacco. Cigarettes = 4000 chemicals including carcinogens plus carbon monoxide. Ecigs = PG and or VG, nicotine, some times a bit of alcohol or distilled water, professional food flavorings. Vaping is meant to be a safer replacement for smoking. If you are not a smoker then you should not be vaping because nobody knows what risks there may be. What everyone here is pretty sure of is it is a lot safer than smoking.

Thee is one kind of food flavoring chemical you should avoid that is in some custard and butter related flavorings. Read this thread for list of vendors that have no juices containing diacetyl.

5.5 trillion cigarettes are made a year to satisfy over a billion smokers around the world. We're going to see mountains of bad press about ecigs as they take a bigger and bigger bite out of Big Tobacco's market share. Nothing is guaranteed in life. Listening to my body, it feels better consuming nic with an ecig versus smoking cigarettes. I can run again, breathe and sing without getting winded. I don't stink and feel like a social outcast. My quality of life has vastly improved. I've researched until my head spins and am at peace with my decision to use an ecig. As ecig industry quality control gets better I expect an even healthier experience. I can think of 140 billion ($) plus reasons why BT will tell me otherwise.
