Hello ECF members.

I've just recently quit smoking and about to purchase a PV kit. I've read a few newbie guides, but I just wanted to make sure I'm getting the most optimal parts.

Based on the selections I researched, it seems that the VAMO does fit the bill nicely, in terms of quality and cost. I'm still not fully decided on the atomizer vs cartomizer route yet, but I'm leaning more towards cartomizers due to the ease of use. Initially I thought the Vivi novas would be great, until I heard of issues such as wicking, and flooding.

Currently, below are the items that I have in the cart. Would appreciate any suggestions, and or confirmations on the selections.

  • VAMO Variable Power, VV APV, Rev.2 - Stainless
  • Efest 18350 button-top IMR x2
  • Trustfire TR-001 Charger
  • SmokTank XL - Dual Coil Cartomizer tank
  • Boge XXL 510 Cartomizer - 3.0ohm (Guessing these don't come pre-punched.. So I'll have to get a puncher)
  • Bottle with Needle Tip Cap
  • And some ejuices. Going to order whatever the vendor has for now, so I get everything at once. Then will start looking for better ejuice vendors.

Think that's it.
Would appreciate any feedback, or suggestions.

Thanks!

Well first of, let me say congrats to you, way to go. That's a big and wonderful step!!!! Welcome to the forum!!!

Thank you!

I actually was thinking about just quitting without any other alternative nicotine sources, mostly due to the fact that e-cigs haven't been out in the market long enough for people to know the real long-term effects to vaping. But it's harder than I had anticipated. =/

the best deal for a vamo from a usa vendor is exhalevapors.com, you can get the single unit or a "kit" Vamo + TrustFire Charger + 18650 Battery Kit use coupon code: "Vaporjoes11percent" to get -11%off anything

Yeah I was initially thinking of ordering from them. The only thing is that I read that 2 x 18350 batteries are the way to go with the Vamo. I've emailed them asking if they can replace the 18650 with 2 x 18350, but they said not at the moment.

Welcome to ECF!! and being stinky stick free! LOL!

I, as many here do, have the Vamo and really like it. Never really cared for the cartos, more of a tank person. Fast refill, easy clean and rebuildable. But, that's just me.
From your list, looks like you have a pretty good base to work with. I would stick with made in the USA ejuice.

Hmm.. What do you mean "more of a tank person"? Don't you need a carto in the tank in order for it to work? Or are you talking about something along the lines of vivi nova with a wick.

I was going to suggest exhale vapors for the vamo as well. They have a 10% coupon list at the top of the page.

For the Smoktech XL DCT tank, Boge cartos (XXLs will be taller than the tank, just so you know), bottles, etc. Check out Vapor Beast, they have free shipping

So the panasonic batteries are better suited for the vamo? Thought the Efest batteries were good, no?

Thanks for your suggestions. So any recommendations on the tank, carto, etc? There are just so many different options, I feel kinda overwhelmed. =)

It seems like the current Hot Toys are the Kanger EVOD (which exhale vapors carries) and the Kanger Protank. Both are bottom coil clearomizers with replaceable heads. Lots of people love them; some, not so much. I suggest you read threads about them. The advantage of the Protank is that it is made of glass (so you don't have to be concerned about what kind of juice* you put in it); however, that makes it more expensive.

Another glass tank that hasn't gotten much attention yet is a DCT made by Smoktech. It's OOS in a lot of places, so you may be able to get a better price if you wait a bit: Smok Tech Silver Glass DCT Tank

EEEKKK! What happened to my tank?

Congrats on quitting. I had a vamo for about 6 month before I broke it 2 days ago(Great device it was my fault). Its a great choice! I hope you like it.

I would recommend getting a bunch of different kinds juice flavors like fruity and tobacco just so when you start look at others you have kind of a sense for what you like.

Good choice on the carto/tank combo thats my favorite vape right now other than the Kanger Protank.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Great choice on the Vamo, the batteries and charger you have picked out..not gonna be good in the long run I've heard from some of the "old timers".

I have a Vamo and use the Nitecore i4 charger I found on ebay but you can find it all over the web. I bought some NCR18650B 3400mah unprotected Panasonic batteries from ebay and just ordered two more of these long lasting batts from fasttech.com which comes highly recommended although it is shipping from China, it is free shipping if you can be patient. There are some good links to these things in this thread so I won't repeat them.

I use the Kanger ProTank, easy peasy and I love it more than the top wick Vivi Nova's

Just my two cents, there are other options, just do not buy cheap batteries and a cheap charger, buy unprotected for the Vamo only, don't try to save money on these, it could blow up in your face. Good luck!!

The Vamo is not as big as you might think. Shown here in long mode with 1 NCR18650B 3400mah battery :

Tank shown in picture is the Kanger ProTank (with stick on gem tattoos that I added lol) no adaptor needed on my Vamo for the ProTank.

So the protank, you can basically use it indefinitely, as long as you change the coil head? Or are there other parts that needs replacing every so often? I'm looking at the protank on exhalevapors, but I don't see the replacement coils. Can you direct me to that?

That's too bad that exhale doesn't have the heads in, but a lot of vendors are OOS. Products Archive - Sun-Vapers.com
