So I'm doing fine (to my surprise) Another test for me today (the other cause of my stress)... my nephew also lives with us (and his 3 year old slightly autistic son visits often) I love the kid, but they spoil him because of his "issues"... boy did that backfire! He destroys everything. I am super careful about leaving anything within reach, but with mom and nephew it's more of an after thought. Kid went nuts on the back patio... knocking over chairs, throwing everything within reach and broke a few things. My nephew had a fancy 24 oz beer, left it within reach, kid got it but he was too quick and saved it... put it right back where it was and this time the kid spilled it all over the place... hilarious! (I know that sounds mean but the kid also knocked my bike over and almost destroyed the TV... pulls out kitchen drawers (with knives). We have put safety things on everything but he is growing bigger stronger every day. I'm just sitting there (laughing inside) because it's like a freakin comedy show... needed some humor in my life  Sorry if that sounds wrong.
Anyway... no tobacco! (2 days now) I am really enjoying my rta.

Day 3... actually doing well (my own self-confidence is helping me through this)
My nephew left over half a cig in the ashtray (looked at it and for a brief moment was so tempted, then smelled the ".... can" and instantly thought "yuck... hell no"
So the other day I mentioned I miss music.. charged my little speaker "cube" and loaded music on the USB stick (and forgot)
Right now I'm enjoying music and also trying new flavors in my RTA.
Anyway... here's the progression of music (and my mental state):
Started with old school woodstock... (I miss the mountains):

Next... another old school song (surprising how through the years, it still seems to relate... even now):

And then moved on to Edie (Brickel and the new Bohemians):

Don't care if anyone get's any of this but all I can say is... 3 days and no tobacco!
I almost lost my mind the first day... second was hard but made it thru... third day was a trip (rollercoaster I guess... ups and downs)
I actually feel like I'm over this (the first time I quit after a pack a day was 3-4 weeks before I felt OK) ;)
Peace out, Vape on!

Day 4... mornings are still hard. Nephew left a bunch of decent butts in the ashtray (thank god I'm out of rolling papers or I would have given in to the urge)

Seems your nephew is making it harder for you.
Until you get it under control you could tell him to smoke outside or at least empty/hide the ashtray...at least until you feel ''strong'' enough to be in the presence of smokers or cigg butts laying around.

He does smoke outside (and I vape outside... mom doesn't allow it in the house)
No, you don't understand... I don't mind him smoking (even around me) and I could empty that .... can but it's there to remind me how nasty those things are (the smell and visual are helping me... disgusting!)

Good to hear that the smells and visuals are outputting you, same goes for me...tough to stand close to someone who smokes, smell alone makes me ill.

Just got to take it one day at a time man, wish it were easier for you but that's just the way it is,baby steps.

@vaper1960 you are doing awesome. Congrats. The urges to smoke come at the weirdest times, honestly. I really wanted to smoke last night because I felt like I was dying and it's the dumbest time to smoke, but well, I was like NOT one of those smokers who put down cigarettes for pneumonia or the flu, if anything I might have smoked more.

I talked me out if it, although I'm sure it would not have killed me but BOY it would also have not been the "best" in self care, that is for sure.

Thank you all... doing fine (quitting 5-6 a day is easy compared to my original pack a day)
Some of you won't like this but I'm being honest. Two things have helped me through this: 1. alcohol (I know... one battle at a time) I cashed in some aluminum cans... 2. really good flavored juices in my RTA (vaping banana nut bread right now) I feel like I have won this (for now) but Anna is right... it can get you at any time (in some ways, that never completely goes away)
Anyone reading this (and quitting for the first time) I will be honest... it's very very hard! Don't give up, don't give in... vape like hell if you have to. It's only been 4 days and my lungs feel better (the one day I smoke 7 and the next morning when I had my last one, was feeling it in my lungs. So much easier when you've played this game before.

@smacuser , it's that Mt Baker pre-made but I am totally ordering the TFA. I can get "something else" any time but I have no funds (it's legal here if we are talking about the same thing ;) ) Good song! Maybe I could bake "something" in some real banana nut bread and send it too you (just kidding... but it's a nice thought)

Mom went to the hardware stores shopping for a new cooler (evaporative... "swamp cooler") It was nice... got a break and did some DIY mixing. She just got home and is driving me nuts! I won't go into detail (would have to write an entire page) She won't leave me alone, won't shut up (neurotic...) and keeps talking about her gas issues, ect (I do care but she might go on for hours and I'm a "captive audience") Nobody said this would be easy... still no tobacco.

There was this dude here for a while that lived in a van in the middle of BFE, close to Bakersfield, that wanted to DIY, but he didn't have a fridge (let alone power). I wonder if he took my advice regarding the pot-in-pot cooler.

Oooh if I could only (although it has happened I am a vaper I did not smoke last night I am VAPER LOL) but well, if at the TIME I could have switched from tobacco to vaping by using alcohol, my life would be complete.... Until I was in jail dude. LOL.

Cross pollination of addictive substances does not seem to work for me, man. That is how I got back on cigarettes I was like "Time to ditch the dang weed" and figured a cigarette a night could not HURT to ease me off.

LOL it did not work out. Actually @vaper1960 I think you are incorrect in your assumption of when my really BAD relapse was, it was like a LONG time ago, 3 years?

Have I never smoked a cigarette since then? I have. I am a perpetual quitter and probably always. But like, they do ALWAYS like, um seem fewer and further between.

I will say, the second the husband and I cross the AZ border, never to return we are pulling over, exciting the car, and I will smoke an ENTIRELY CHOSEN and CELEBRATORY cigarette while we drink Alcohol free cider and toast our escape.

I am looking forward to that day it is TONS more motivational to think about than sending my boss mean emails.

If it wee the last remnant of landmass above Pangea, I think I'd chose swimming til I drowned honestly.

For a former 3 ppd smoker for decades, it's not so bad really. It's just if you get trapped.
