So she's like Hodgins on Bones?

No, this is more academic research. I dont know what type of work she will end up doing, neither does she. It depends on who's hiring. But an academic paper to her name can't hurt.

Sorry. Although I know that feeling. Son has dropped thermodynamics twice after it was paid. His third and final attempt (at least at this college) will be this summer. If he can’t pass it he will have to take it at another college and transfer it. It’s not all rosey around here.

At least you didn't kill yourself to set up college trust funds for your kids for them to decide the money meant more than the education...

Both of my kids had trust funds to go to any college they wanted... They could have done Harvard, Yale, Princeton... instead they decided to buy houses and cars... lol

    Kids I swear...

You still gotta love 'em though, hit. Even though you sometimes want to strangle them.

There have been a few times I would have liked to with the youngest.

When Covid first hit she was in a chemistry class. For the program she's in she had to get at least a B in all science classes and didn't in the chemistry class. So had to retake it over the summer that year. Then Xmas eve told us that she didn't get a good enough grade in another class which was the following semester. We had money saved in mutual funds for both of the kids for college. Not enough to cover all four years but it was a good start and we could pay some along the way. The oldest spoiled us. She passed all of her classes and was done in four years. The youngest is just finishing her second year and doesn't like the college so is trying to transfer to a RN program that will take a year with what she has already and then can go back to another college for 1.5 years to get her BSN. If she could have just stuck it out where she was, she was already accepted to the nursing program. Her boyfriend has one year of college left and goes to a different school but he wants to move to Colorado so I'm thinking that if she gets in and gets her RN then she will probably move with him and finish her BSN there. If she does then the BSN is on her to pay for. By that time she can file taxes independently and will be able to get grants and stuff.

Morning everyone! After reading this morning's posts, I feel like I might be the only one on this thread without kids.

Maybe that's why I buy so much vaping gear. It might be like stress eating except shopping. I love my kids but after six years of paying for college I'm ready to be done soon. The oldest came out with a small student loan that is very manageable and the youngest hasn't had to borrow yet. Depending on what happens, she might not have to.

Sorry. I know it can be tiresome listening to people rant on about their kids.

Not tiresome at all. It's great to hear about young people doing well. With the world we live in today, it's inspiring.

When my son told me he made all A's I promptly slapped him on the arm...right on top of his second covid shot from yesterday. This is his first time getting all A's in college. He's always been a great student, but average grades. He made the Dean's List his first semester and now the President's List. I try not to pressure him (except thermo).

I can't imagine life without my son. It was hard raising him by myself from infancy, but it was worth it. He's a great kid and I don't know how I got so lucky. We are so close.

Not at all. Kids are a big part of your life, no reason to apologize about discussing them.

Plus, it makes me thankful that I am one without child. I prefer being the uncle who gets to play laser tag and not pay for anyone's college.

Same here. I was a single mother and it was just me and my daughter. Leaving her at that big university by herself at age 18 was hard. But she is doing well, and I, too, am lucky and blessed. And I get to see her this weekend!

Does she get a chance to visit very often?
