Saw that video last night in the Solo thread. It cracked me up. When all else fails reach for the hammer.

I honestly think the battery cap threading problems are user created. Why? Watch the video again and see how he carelessly screws the battery cap on his other mod. He just jams the cap in and screws (no wonder his threads are hosed ). I don't do that with my Solo's. Bet you don't either.

I usually just take the hammer out of my toolbox and wave it at whatever is giving me trouble and that's usually enough to scare it into working.

Thought of @FranC when I ran across this very sweet looking green tea recipe on ELR. ;)

    They're popular in Japan.
    Green-Tea-Kit-Kat-4.7-oz.-_133g_384x384.jpg

Nestle brings a unique green tea matcha flavor of Japan with this Green Tea Kit Kat. Japan is famous for its 350+ varieties of Kit Kat flavors, often favored for gifting and tourists to bring an exciting souvenir from Japan. Traditionally made from powdered green tea combined with smooth white chocolate gives this Kit Kat a touch of fragrant and sweet flavor. This Kit Kat covered in smooth Matcha Green Tea and filled with the delicious wafer.

ETA: FWIW that recipe has many positive reviews on ELR.

    Morning, all.

A nice refreshing 34 atm, heading for 60 ;) Rain break today, deluge tomorrow and Sunday.

Regardless, I feel fortunate and I am not complaining. There are so many that were not so lucky. I can't taste or smell a damn thing but I can feel the heat of a proper 3 finger pour of bourbon.

At least there's that! And yes, quite good that you're both vaxxed, otherwise it could have been a lot different! (I still don't understand why they call them "break through", since none are claimed to be 100%. So how is being unlucky enough to be in the 5 - 10% a break through? Imo it's just the (bad) luck of the draw...) Hope you get past the remaining symptoms soon!

I read an article the other day that said that after 4 months the pfizer vaccine goes down to somewhere in the 40% range as far as preventing someone from catching it but still maintains the 90+% ability to keep you from getting really sick. I'm going to get the booster as soon as they say I can.

Jeez Skeebs....I'm really shocked to hear that and sorry you had to go through it too.

How was your breathing and did your O2 levels drop badly? Did your wife mask up while she was away? So much for being vaccinated although as you say it probably would have been much worse without!! I ask because I'm immuno-deficienct so am pretty scared of COVID.

Oh trust me, I totally understand. I have been HIV+ for over 20 years and COVID scares me tremendously. She says she used her mask in Tennessee.. I know that state is a hotbed for the virus right now.. I know her and some fellow managers went out for dinner one night so I am guessing the masks came off that night.

I only had one rough night of breathing and a part of me thinks it was more anxiety based than anything, knowing I was positive, etc.. I didn't go in the hospital, but I did take advantage of the free services of Doctor on Demand that my wife's company pays for....

I am really of the opinion that the vaccine did it's job perfectly.. my immune system is shot and made of toothpicks.

Skeebo, I was just thinking that I hadn't seen you around in a bit and was wondering if you were okay. It's too bad that you had to deal with the covid even after being vaccinated, but at least you weren't seriously I'll and are recovering.

Thanks. I really thought I had it once before, but after going through what I did for the last few weeks I can say for sure I never had it; well I don't think I have anyways.

Sorry to hear that. I’m glad you weathered it alright.
Wow, that’s awful:( So glad you’re feeling better now:wub:

    Thanks..

PS. The flavor of Popeyes chicken comes through enough even with the broken taste buds. Bold flavors seem to come through slightly and hot and spicy really helps. Just FYI in case anyone else has to deal with this mess.

Saw that in the GV Solo thread. I have 4 Solo's and haven't had any problems with the battery caps (o-ring installed or removed). Removing the o-ring on the cap does make it easier when screwing the cap back on the mod. Not planning on taking mine for a swim.

I have Solos. They are all fine now but I had problems early on with some of them. On one the cap wouldn't go in all the way. I took the ring and battery out and carefully forced it in a bit at a time. Each time I took it out and removed bits of metal from the threads. Once it went all the way in I screwed it in and out repeatedly over several days. Now it's fine.

I had a couple of others that were so tight I had to use a lever on the cap to get it in and out. They loosened up after a while so I can do them with my fingers now. One of those was tight right from when the thread first engaged. Using force at that stage meant if I put it in wrong it would have torn up the thread for sure.

I have one where when I turn the cap backwards to find the thread I get two clicks instead of one. It goes in at the second click, the first click must be a defect in the start of the thread so if I forced it at that point I guess it would destroy the thing.

My take is that the threads aren't finished well, at least early on when I got mine. They wanted them to be tight and quality control wasn't great. Since they are so tight a lot of people must use a lever to put them in. You can apply a lot of force with a lever and if you get it wrong it would be easy to tear up the threads.

I'm getting my Pfizer booster closer to the end of the month. I will be right at the 6 month point then.

Thanks David... and I agree 100%. As I mentioned previously, the vaccine did exactly what it was supposed to. I am indeed grateful for it.

I saw that and made my wife sign up for the booster this morning. She's right at the 6 month mark since her second shot of Pfizer. I am hoping the booster for Moderna comes soon.

We got ours last Saturday, along with our flu shots. (From what I've read, the timing on the flu shot can vary, depending on when it comes into "season" in one's locale. Ours comes early, so shots early :) )

Yeah, got mine a couple of weeks ago so I'm at maximum protection now.

I hope you make a full recovery @Skeebo, and soon. Be well.

BTW, I've never had Popeyes. The one that's near my home is always packed though.

I love fried chicken, but I hate the mess it makes when I make it myself. You should try Popeyes at least once. I like their Cajun style red beans and rice too.. I usually get mine with a couple of jalapeno peppers. A bite of chicken, followed by a bite of pepper, and then a bite of biscuit.

It's so bad, but oh so good.

Guy in my neighborhood got sick summer of last year before the vaccines came out. He spent three weeks in the hospital. He was a plumber and still hasn't been able to get back to work. I used to bump into him when I was walking the dogs, he could only handle a slow circuit around the block. A few weeks ago I saw him on his bicycle for the first time so maybe he's on the mend. The vaccine does seem to mostly stop it getting that bad.

I haven't eaten any food from fast food places in well over 20 years.

The only thing fast about it is how long it takes them to give it to you. When I think of fast food I think of Taco Bell, McDonalds, and Burger King. Fake food.

I have not eaten from those last 3 in about 20 years.

Hey Skeebs.....just really glad you're ok. I'm also encouraged to know that a friend with a similarly depressed immune system can still survive without dialing 911  It's a horrible virus. I've had my booster shot so I'm hoping that'll help but even so it's extreme caution that rules my days at the moment.

Hope your taste and smell come back soon bud
