Another decent recipe. Heavy on the flavor.

I made 100 mls each of Baker Street and Soft Servin’ Up Pineapple. After I finish up some chores and have Sunday dinner at my parent’s I’m going to make gingerbread ice cream Sammich and loudonville wedding cake. So two new and two old favs. :thumb:

Between football, scary movies, and working…I need a nap!

All I'm going to say right now is that this discussion/argument concerning the Covid-19 and the possible preventative measures and "Cures" - Reminds me so much of another World Wide Pandemic and the years of the same diatribe and jeremiad during the beginning of HIV/AIDS back in the late 70's - early 80's . . . AND - Look at where we are now 50 years later - still no HIV/AIDS vaccine and no cure.

IMHO - The worse thing is there are very few people who actually realize that Covid-19 (and it's variants) is not ever going away - nor be eliminated.

What vaccines are found and/or continues to be used for Covid-19 will become an absolute norm for everyone to have - such as the Immunizations/Vaccines used today: Polio; Yearly Influenza/Flu Shots; Chickenpox / Singles - a Booster shot to prevent the effects Chickenpox; Pneumococcal Vaccines; Polio; Hep-A & Hep-B; Measles and Mumps, etc.

    Just Sayin' . . .

Funny if pink guava is tart because when I smelt it I was convinced it smelt sweet?
IMO the FLV pink guava has some tartness, some zesty citrus and a mild sweetness. Pretty much like the nice bitter sweet thing I get from a real grapefruit.

Thanks J. I hope it plays nicely with the mango and cream....I'm just about to Google it.

Good morning random folks :) Have you any plans today?

I did, but yesterday it seems my car decided that it wasn't going anywhere . . . From what I can tell the starter died (won't turn over - and it's not the battery, AC/Radio/Lights work). . . So can't do anything I wanted to then - nor today. Have to wait until Monday to have my car towed to mechanic to have it fixed. Really hope it doesn't cost too much - nor take long. I need to go food shopping and I have an appointment with my Nephrologists on Tuesday (half hour drive - 3 hours by public trans). . . . Just Sayin' . . .

I don't think anyone here disagrees. Vaccines work and work well. They are not 100% effective at preventing infection with Covid-19, though, especially with those newer variants, but they do keep people from developing very severe outcomes if they do get sick. I just learned tonight that a friend of DD, who works with her, tested positive two weeks after receiving a booster. But he has very mild symptoms and will be OK.

Don't trust the vaccine because it might cause long term health problems that just haven't had time to appear yet? That same ridiculous argument is used against vaping. Or it turns you magnetic. Or tracking implants. Or it alters your genetic code. These days there is nothing so clearly absurd that it doesn't have at least a few believers. Life in the age of Zuck.

Mango/Grapefruit smoothies are popular. My wife used to make a really good one. There are grapefruit/mango custards and cakes too.

Don't know if you ever saw this fruit pairing web page. It's helpful, and decent, but in no way is it complete. The Ultimate Fruit Flavor Pairing Chart - The Baker's Almanac

The book, The Flavor Bible by Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg, is one of the best sources for pairings of all kinds. I use my wife's old beat up hard copy and also the ebook version. :)

Ok I went to the flavorah website and it's definitely supposed to be a guava but the notes on ELR do suggest some grapefruit with other tropical fruit notes....it doesn't sound like a straight up grapefruit. I'm intrigued to try this and happy that it accents other tropical fruit nicely. Should be a goody I think.

Opie gave me the notes and I've got them on my computer....it is really useful.

The description you linked is like SSA Guava which does taste like a real pink guava. FLV is grapefruit. Check out the flavor notes on ELR for it. Nearly every single member says it is grapefruit.
Grapefruit with other notes of differing opinion.

I don’t get any tropical fruits out of it.
